Dear users and authors,
how do you explain the success of yarn cakes and gradient yarn?
Let me know.

Well, Bobbel yarn cakes make it possible to create the most beautiful color gradients—without any annoying weaving in of ends!
With most winders, you can put the colors together however you like.

Also, I find scarves, etc. crocheted with Bobbel yarn sooo incredibly soft and comfortable to wear!
At least that’s always been the case with mine.

And another thing: I think Bobbel yarn cakes are beautiful even “unworked.”
My Bobbels are displayed out in the open in the room, and sometimes it almost feels like a shame to use a new one.
You should always buy them in pairs—one to look at and one to use :D

I’ve recently started working with Bobbel yarn cakes too—and I think they’re simply wonderful.

They are easy to work with and create a WOW effect even with a simple lace pattern. You can use them not only for scarves, but also for clothing, décor, and much more, since they are available in various yardages and color combinations.

And once worked up, they are very comfortable to wear.

Good evening, everyone. I recently started knitting with my first Bobbel too and have loved it from the very beginning. It’s super soft and lovely to work with. The color gradient is an added bonus. The shawl is turning out nice and light and will surely be great to wear. Best regards, Claudia

What I like about yarn cakes are the gentle color gradients. I also find the material very pleasant in the hands and therefore easy to work with.

At first, it feels a bit unusual to knit or crochet with multi-stranded yarn instead of twisted yarn.

Why are they actually called Bobbel?

Is lace gradient yarn the same as a Bobbel?

I don’t think so—not quite.
Lace gradient yarn is just regular twisted yarn that’s specially dyed.

Bobbels are made up of several strands that aren’t twisted together; they’re essentially parallel.
For example, a 4-strand Bobbel:
at the beginning, all 4 strands are red; then one strand is changed, so you have 3 red strands and 1 pink strand; further along, the third color is changed, and so on.

In my experience, color gradients are generally very popular.
The color changes keep you motivated while knitting or crocheting—you always want to see how the next color will look. And since one yarn cake is usually enough for an entire shawl, it creates a beautiful gradient and you don’t have to weave in many ends. For me, that’s a definite plus.
