Raglan from the top

Hey everyone! I’m super frustrated right now because I’ve definitely wasted five hours for nothing, and I’ve already had to rip out EIGHT of my projects—either because I got frustrated or just threw them away. I have a pattern for a sweater with raglan sleeves. Can someone please finally explain to me in a way I can understand how to properly create a raglan seam? The front and back just don’t line up for me. Single crochet, chain stitch, single crochet in one stitch. Got it. But even when I follow the instructions exactly... The line is crooked and lopsided—nothing is working! I can’t find proper patterns or explanations anywhere :( I’m completely lost with this problem.

Please help me. I’m really at my wits’ end, and if no one can help me, I’ll just give up on this great sweater :(

Is this a pattern you bought here at Crazypatterns from one of the authors, and you’re having trouble with it? If so, it would be best if you sent that author a private message. She (or he) will definitely be able to help you.

Otherwise, there are lots of crocheters here who will surely give you a few tips. So far, I’ve only knitted raglan.
