Hi, everyone!
I hope you’re all staying safe from storm damage!
It’s already blowing pretty hard here. The kids were dismissed after the fourth period today. A section of the roof came loose on the school building. I was really scared, but my daughter is safe at her friend’s house and is waiting there until the weather calms down—then we’ll pick her up.
Here in Wolfsburg, it’s still manageable. Strong winds, nothing more.
To everyone who has to go out despite the storm and snow—please take care of yourselves.
Several trees have already been blown over here, and some trucks too. The roofing felt on our patio roof in the garden has been blown away… it’s scary. Two bridges over the Rhine are closed… hopefully this will be over soon
Here in Mecklenburg, it’s snowing like crazy—clearing the sidewalks is pointless for now. It doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon.
Unfortunately, the snow won’t stick—it’s just above freezing, and the snow is heavy and wet.
According to the weather report, this will soon be over, and we’ll have temperatures between 7 and 9 degrees next week.
No winter at all!!!!!!!!
Things are okay here right now (on the edge of the Black Forest).... It’s only blowing very, very lightly, and it’s not snowing anymore.
Only some of the roads are still closed...
Yesterday was terrible here… A real snowstorm!
And then there was this “smart” person who checked our internet connection and left the door open…
So I got to shovel snow INSIDE the house… I even used a shovel.
I wish everyone affected by the storm a peaceful day without any nasty incidents.
Here in Hamburg, it’s relatively calm, though it snowed heavily this morning—but I don’t think it’ll stick around for long. I had an appointment this morning. But now I’ve holed up inside, drinking some tea, and wrestling with the idea of cleaning out the basement… or maybe I’d rather crochet :-)
Tough decision
I was so good. I stayed strong and actually spent an hour in the basement playing “cardboard Tetris” :-) I can slowly move around now, and now I’m rewarding myself with a bar of chocolate and some crocheting :-)
In our yard, there are two fir trees that fell from the neighbor’s property into our yard. The fence is broken!
Now I’m just hoping that the hydrangeas—about 12 of them—which are now lying under the fir trees, will all make it through this okay.
It was just 3.5 years ago that three fir trees fell on our property. Back then, in Düsseldorf alone, over 30,000 trees fell!!!
But now the storm is over here; I’ve packed my bags and am flying to Barcelona tomorrow. The sun is shining there.
Oh dear, I hope that in the end, no one affected by the storm is seriously injured or has been injured.
It’s been storming fiercely here since this afternoon. I live in southeastern Bavaria. There was a snowstorm this morning, but it’s all melted again. It’s supposed to snow from tomorrow evening until Sunday. So at least we’ll get a hint of winter.
Things have calmed down again here as the afternoon has gone on, and we can now enjoy the rain showers in peace. I hope for everyone’s sake that Frederike doesn’t cause you any more trouble.
