How about a "St. Nicholas stocking" - any size you like - depending on how "good" the recipient was this past year ;-):

Knitting pattern
Socks made from 6-ply yarn - tutorial with charts for all sizes

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Socks made from 6-ply sock yarn are a little thicker – and therefore also warmer – and above all quicker to knit than socks made from traditional 4-ply yarn. They are usually preferred as house and bed socks, hut slippers, or even for hiking in mountain boots. Men love socks like these in work boots.

This is basically a sock-knitting tutorial, shown in detail with photos using children's socks in size 32/33.

All other sizes can be knitted according to the corresponding chart information for 6-ply sock yarn .

Included in the download :

  • PDF sock-knitting pattern - illustrated step by step (22 pages)
  • Baby sock chart for 6-ply sock yarn for newborns up to shoe size 20
  • Sock chart for 6-ply sock yarn, children's socks up to adult shoe size 47
We need
1 ball = 150 g (yardage approx. 420 m to 450 m) up to shoe size 44; 200 g – 250 g from size 45 of a 6-ply sock yarn, here using the especially soft Christmas yarn color 02 “Mally Socks – Lungauer Sockenwolle” by Ferner Wolle, 75% merino, 25% polyamide; gauge approx. 22 sts x 31 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm; set of double-pointed needles 3.5; row counter is helpful; measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.

For 4-ply sock yarns, there is a separate sock-knitting tutorial with corresponding charts here in my shop at https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/items/5603/sockenstrick-lehrgang-fuer-4-faediges-garn-alle-groessen-fuer-baby-kinder-damen-herrensocken

Here are my small projects for the Advent / St. Nicholas / Christmas / New Year’s Eve season:
1. Tablecloth “Christmas Spirit”

A tablecloth with a diameter of approx. 48 cm in a beautiful dark green color with a bit of silvery glitter. Very suitable for the Christmas season; it can be used not only as a tablecloth, but also works very well as a base for the Christmas tree stand.
For the tablecloth you will need: • crochet thread 10, Maddison (50g, 250m) color no. 10 dark green • De Luxe crochet thread, Maddison (20g, 154m) color no. 01 silver • crochet hook no. 1.00

The decorations/coasters “little snowflakes” with a diameter of approx. 10 cm are very suitable for the Christmas season and create a cozy atmosphere. They can be placed beautifully on the festive table as coasters for candle holders or used as door and window decorations. Not much thread is needed to make one snowflake, so these can be crocheted from leftover thread.

A friendly Santa Claus as a decoration for St. Nicholas Day or Christmas - it’s sure to bring joy and makes a perfect Secret Santa gift. You can even use this one for Easter, because it holds a little surprise:

Turn the inside out and you have an Easter bunny! So if you don’t finish this crochet project by Christmas - no big deal. You’ll definitely manage it by Easter!
The reversible doll is crocheted using Catania cotton yarn by Schachenmayr and a 2.5 mm crochet hook. For the beard and the white fur, you’ll also need a little white fluffy yarn (Doudou by Lang Yarns).

If you’ve already bought some Christmas gifts and would like to wrap them right away, I might have just the right container here.

The pretty little Christmas tree is made from photo cardstock, measures approx. 25 x 20.5 x 11 cm, and is easy to make with a little crafting experience.

So you don’t forget which gift you wrapped for whom, I’ve prepared these Christmas gift tags for you. If you write on the back who the gift is from and who it’s for, you won’t get confused later, and the recipient will know who to thank for the gift.

The gift tags are 5.5 to 6 cm tall, made from cardstock, and partially decorated with glitter liner. You’ll get a total of 17 templates (4 large ones for the background and 13 smaller ones for decorating). The tags are very easy to make and are also great for beginners and for crafting with kids.

Cute Christmas Frame—Quick & Easy to Crochet

Sometimes you just don’t know what to give a loved one for Christmas or St. Nicholas Day. Many people these days just want cash or gift cards, and those are usually pretty boring when it comes to packaging.

With this crochet-covered Christmas frame, you can not only give a beautiful family photo as a gift but also present a gift card or cash in a decorative way.

The frame is super quick to make and is also great for beginners.

Difficulty level: Easy

What you’ll need:

Gründl Happy yarn (100 g = 250 m LL)
  • Red, approx. 30–40 g
  • A few grams of baby pink, a little black, and white
  • Stuffing and googly eyes
  • A color-coordinated picture frame for 10x15 photos with a frame width/depth of 1 cm x 2 cm
  • Size 4 crochet hook, yarn needle, and scissors
  • (Spray) glue, or a hot glue gun if needed
  • A pom-pom maker (two cardboard discs also work as a pom-pom maker—there are videos on YouTube showing how)
Skills required:

Magic ring, single crochet, half double crochet, crocheting stitches together, sewing on

Crochet Pattern Rudolf the Reindeer

Get the pattern here

Who doesn’t know Rudolf the Reindeer with his red nose? Yes, that time is coming around again soon, and no living room should be without the famous reindeer. This sweet guy decorates any shelf and creates a festive Christmas mood.

In my 14-page crochet pattern with lots of pictures, I describe step by step how to make Rudolf, so he can soon decorate your living room too.

The pattern is great for beginners, since you only need to know the magic ring, single crochet, and chain stitches.

Difficulty level: Easy

What you’ll need:

  • Gründl Happy yarn (250 m yardage per 100 g) beige – approx. 200 g – black or brown, white, red (a little of each), lots of stuffing
  • Wiggly eyes or white buttons
  • Hook size 3.5, yarn needle, and scissors**

If you can handle having fun at Christmas, you’ll also have fun with my
 crochet pattern “Stripping Santa Claus”

You should be allowed to have a few laughs at Christmas and step outside the box once in a while....

Did you know that Santa only works as Father Christmas as a side job? Actually, he’s the original forefather of the Chippendales, as you can see from the following pictures :)

The pattern is easy to follow for beginners with a little practice, advanced crocheters, and pros. Complete beginners might have trouble in a few places. But I’m always happy to help with questions.

Difficulty level: Medium to Difficult

What you need:

Gründl Happy yarn:
  • Pink approx. 250 g
  • Red approx. 250 g
  • White approx. 100 g
  • Black 50–60 g
  • Light gray approx. 5 g
  • Brown approx. 2–3 g
  • Beige approx. 10 g
  • Some craft wire and sturdy wire mesh for fingers, joints, and the parts you would like to stabilize or make movable
  • Some white fabric and a black permanent marker for the eyes and mouth (possibly googly eyes for the reindeer briefs)
  • Glue
  • Crochet hook size 4, yarn needle, scissors, and stuffing

A pom-pom maker would be good for the pom-pom on the hat; alternatively, use two cardboard discs and Google a relevant YouTube video

What you need to know:

Magic ring, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, increasing and decreasing stitches

From the popular dish sponge yarn:

Dish Sponge Ball with or without a Face plus Dishcloth - Crochet Pattern

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Quick to crochet with the popular dish sponge yarn (washable at 60°C in the dishwasher or washing machine).

Included in the download :
  • PDF crochet pattern for a dish sponge ball with an embroidered face (diameter approx. 7 cm)
  • PDF crochet pattern for a dishcloth (size: approx. 20 cm x 20 cm)
Both patterns include
  • a short version and
  • a detailed, illustrated pattern plus crochet basics with all stitches used.

Addition to the dishcloth pattern: if you would like to crochet a hanger onto the cloth, you can crochet the hanger according to the dish sponge ball pattern.

The embroidered little face gives the dish sponge ball a fun touch for gifts. If the ball (not filled) is pushed outward, it is a smiling dish sponge; pushed inward, it is a “Halloween face.” If left without a “face,” the ball also makes a pretty Christmas ornament .

Materials for 1 dishcloth + 1 dish sponge ball:
approx. 50 g Rico Creative Bubble, 100% polyester, e.g. color 007 light blue + 50 g (or leftover yarn) color 012 black, 50 g – 100 m, washable at 60 °C in the dishwasher, crochet hook 4.0; , scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.

If the dishcloth is used as a potholder, please use 100% cotton yarn because of its heat resistance.
