Useful calculation aid:

This is an
Excel spreadsheet for converting a yarn quantity from the "original yarn" to an "alternative yarn" of your choice.
Example:
The original yarn named in your pattern has a yardage of 85 m per 50 g. According to the specifications there, you need 600 g of this "original yarn" for your size. But you would like to make your piece in a different yarn (= alternative yarn). The yarn you have chosen has a yardage of 70 m per 50 g skein. You enter this information in the Excel spreadsheet and immediately receive the required quantity in skeins and grams for your chosen yarn.
