This brightly colored rainbow set—consisting of a hat and a loop scarf—is ideal for beginners because it’s very easy and quick to knit.

The pattern was created during one of my experiments with knit and purl stitches and has a special feature:
it’s very voluminous, with a layer of air, which makes it especially warm.

The pattern also includes a size chart for children’s hats, supplemented with adult sizes.
Everything is described in detail with pictures. There’s a print-friendly section and a section with photos.

Click here for the knitting pattern for the rainbow set (hat and loop).

This hat with a knitted-on scarf collar keeps little girls’ necks and heads nice and warm. Nothing can slip out of place.

The special feature: The hat doesn’t need to be pulled over the head because it has buttons in the front. This makes it more comfortable for babies and toddlers to put on.

Even beginners can knit this hat quickly and easily.
The pattern is very simple and is explained in detail in the instructions.

More for older girls:

Knitting pattern for the ALL-SEASON BEANIE made from sock yarn

(Click the image to purchase/download)

This feather-light all-season beanie is made using knitting needles of various sizes (the ribbing with size 3.5, the main body with size 6.0, and the decreases with sizes 4.5 and 4.0) and a crochet hook size 3.0–4.0 for the embellishment. You’ll need just 70 g of 6-ply sock yarn, though most skeins weigh 150 g. So you can easily use the leftover yarn to knit a small loop scarf or even a pair of socks up to shoe size 36/37 :-)

Tip: You can find a sock-knitting course for 6-ply sock yarn here:
https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/items/22205/strickanleitung-socken-aus-6-faedigem-garn-lehrgang-mit-tabellen-fuer-alle-groessen

When using multicolored sock yarn, the color progression—as shown in this picture—happens automatically.

You’ll need these knitting skills:
knit stitches, purl stitches, knitting in the round, and right-leaning decreases. Crochet skills: chain stitches, slip stitches

3 Techniques - Knitted Möbius Scarf-Collar-Headband

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Here, the basic principle and three cast-on techniques for knitting Möbius scarves/loops are presented. Try them out and choose your favorite method :-)

The PDF pattern is illustrated in detail and includes 2 patterns (see image gallery).

Model 1 – Colorful - is a Möbius loop/scarf with a circumference of approx. 90 cm and a height of approx. 20 cm, which can be worn beautifully in different variations as a shoulder warmer and neck warmer (see image). For this we only need 1 skein of Woolly Hugs Bandy, here color no. 7, 100 g – 210 m, 100% cotton, gauge according to the label: 14 sts x 20 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm; circular knitting needle size 6.0 with a cable length of 1 m; stitch marker; measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends. If needed, leftover yarn from a somewhat thinner, color-coordinated yarn (e.g. Record 210 – potholder yarn, here in green) and crochet hook 4.5.

Model II – Möbius Collar in Milk White nestles wonderfully around the neck like a turtleneck, but can also be worn as a headband. This model makes a wonderful gift and can be knitted in just a few hours. For this we only need 1 skein of merino yarn, 50 g – 85 m, e.g. Merino 85 by Austermann or Schachenmayr, 100% merino, according to the label for needle size 6 – 7 and a gauge of 16 sts x 22 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm. Used here: circular knitting needle 6.0, cable length 80 cm to 100 cm; stitch marker; measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.

Both models are worked in a simple Reversi rib pattern.

Basic knitting skills as well as knitting in the round, knitting stitches together, purling stitches together, yarn over, and binding off are required. A basic knitting course is not included, but helpful links are.

Knitting pattern - simple cable-pattern hat 'Killary'

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This PDF knitting pattern for head circumference 53 cm to 56 cm includes the photos from the image gallery.

The timeless hat is knitted in rounds.

General knitting skills are required.

The nice thing about the pattern used here is that for smaller/larger head circumferences, fewer or more stitches can be knitted in the “ribbed area,” so the model can be adapted to any head size.

We need:
100 g Fila Doro Killary or Schulana Donegal Tweed, gauge according to the yarn label: 16 sts x 22 rows = 10 x 10 cm, 95% virgin wool, 5% cashmere, 50 g = 95 m yardage, -knitting needle 4.5–5.5, used here: circular knitting needle size 5.0 with 40 cm cable length (60 cm cable length is a bit tight at the beginning of knitting, but can also be used); stitch marker, cable needle, yarn needle for weaving in ends, measuring tape, scissors

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This special crochet hat/beanie – designed for head circumference sizes 52 cm to approx. 60 cm – for men as well as women and children, gets a nice structure from the mini braids, so it can be worn in many variations, including as a hat.

The PDF pattern includes

Crochet skills - these stitches are used: chain stitches, slip stitches (explained), half double crochet, double crochet, front and back post double crochet (shown in pictures).

Alternative yarns: “Chunky” weight with a similar yardage and label information.
Differing from the label information, used here: crochet hooks sizes 6.5 and 9.0; gauge here with crochet hook 9.0: 10 double crochet = approx. 10 cm.
In addition, we need a measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends, and stitch markers.

This baby hat can be worn year-round and is designed for a head circumference of approx. 38 cm – 40 cm. If you leave off the brim, it becomes a beanie.

Required crochet skills: chain stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, slip stitch. The magic ring and post double crochet are explained, just like the entire pattern, with detailed photos. The PDF pattern also includes a short version (for optional printing).

For elegant, sporty grown-up girls:

Crochet Beanie “Tabata” & Möbius scarf collar/loop (m/f)

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This crochet set (m/f) in fashionable gray consists of a beanie and a Möbius scarf collar/loop.

The PDF pattern is written for a head circumference of 52 cm – 60 cm and includes both – hat and loop (loop in one size).

It is illustrated, but requires general crochet knowledge (chain stitches, single crochet, double crochet, crocheting in rounds, slip stitches, increases and decreases). The special stitches are illustrated and described. I would describe the difficulty level as “intermediate.”

For the hat, 150 g and for the loop, 100 g of a yarn with 50 g – 75 m yardage (e.g. Tabata by Adriafil) are required. Unlike the hook size on the ball band, this is crocheted with crochet hook sizes 8.0 and 10.0.

“A Touch of Something..” – versatile to wear e.g. as a reversible loop / hooded scarf / shoulder warmer.

One size – easy to knit.

The PDF pattern includes pictures from the image gallery.

These basic knitting skills are used:
cast on stitches, knit and purl stitches, knit 2 stitches together, increase 1 stitch, knitting in the round, bind off.

We need:
just under 50 g Austermann Kid Silk (75% kid mohair, 25% silk, 25 g/LL 225 m (hand wash) according to the label for needle size 3–4; used here: 3.5 circular knitting needle, stitch marker, yarn needle for weaving in ends, measuring tape, scissors

Cozy, soft, and warm:

Openwork shawl/scarf - easy to knit

Can be made in any yarn and size.

A feather-light gradient lace shawl (yarn used here: 150 g Austermann Caleido Lace for approx. 42 cm x 112 cm) in a simple openwork pattern that can be worn as a shoulder shawl, scarf, or even a hat scarf. By the way: alpaca yarns are about 5 times warmer than virgin wool/merino.

Basic knitting skills (casting on, knit and purl stitches, edge stitches, yarn overs, knitting stitches together, bind off) are enough for this simple openwork pattern.

Warm from head over neck all the way to the kidneys :-)

Knitting pattern Multifunctional Loop-Bolero-Kidney Warmer-Shoulder Warmer-Hooded Scarf

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This versatile loop (wrapped 2 times around the neck) is knitted in the round from 6-ply sock yarn, in the same yarn as the “All-Season Beanie”.

The PDF pattern includes photos, but it is not a basic knitting course. General knitting skills are required.

Required materials:
150 g 6-ply sock yarn, here Austermann Sockenwolle Step 6 (= 6-ply) with aloe vera and jojoba oil, (75% virgin wool, 25% acrylic, 150 g = 375 m yardage, according to the ball band knitting needle 3 - 4; gauge according to the ball band: 23 sts x 31 rows = 10 x 10 cm); stitch marker, tape measure, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.
Used here: 6.0 circular knitting needle
(cable length at least 80 cm, more comfortable: 100 cm).

By the way: in sizes L-XL, the “bolero” fits in such a way that it can also be called a “kidney warmer”. In smaller clothing sizes, this area hangs in a fashionably casual way.
The hooded scarf does not completely cover the back of the head; this lets long hair show to stylish advantage.
