Dear users, dear authors,
today we’re talking about designs, shapes, colors, cuts, and, of course, current trends.
I’m excited to see what you come up with.
My 15-year-old niece is totally into camouflage-style clothes and said that’s “SO IN” right now. :-) I don’t necessarily need this look myself, since it always reminds me a lot of army clothing. What do you think of camouflage-style clothing? And are there maybe any crochet or knitting patterns out there, specifically for that camouflage effect? Then I’d make something in this style for my niece.
I’m more into knitting accessories, and out of curiosity I like to browse Pinterest every now and then to see what’s hot right now. You see all sorts of things there that are featured in fashion shows, and of course I check out other stuff too—not just accessories. Anyway, I’ve noticed that these big, oversized sweaters seem to be making a comeback, and not only that—they often have very unusual sleeves, too. How should I describe them… like puff sleeves, but long. Has anyone else seen this, and if so, do you like it?
You also see a lot of asymmetrical designs. A sleeve on one side, sleeveless on the other; slanted sweaters—long on one side, short on the other. Personally, I don’t find the long puff sleeves very aesthetically pleasing, but I could definitely get used to the slanted ones.
Hey there, I had a customer in the store who’d crocheted herself a thick jacket out of alternating large black and white squares, with really wide sleeves. It looked great—whether it’s trendy or not. But I think you’d have to be taller than my 155 cm to pull it off—grin...
Those wide sleeves wouldn’t work for me; I’d need wrist warmers or arm warmers underneath, otherwise I’d be freezing. But it looked absolutely stunning on that customer.
Love, Traudelina
I also think oversized styles are in right now. I saw some very loose-fitting “poncho sweaters” when I was checking out the latest looks at the mall. They were often made of chunky knit and had a pretty irregular texture… they didn’t look half bad.
There’s a reason why clothes look better on models than on “regular” people. That’s because clothes are usually designed for people with model measurements. They’re tailored to those proportions and fit well as a result.
For all other sizes, the garments are simply made a few centimeters larger, but the proportions often aren’t adjusted accordingly. As a result, they just don’t drape as nicely.
The oversized trend:
It’s been around for quite a while now. I wanted to create a promotional thread about it ages ago, but for a long time we didn’t have enough patterns for it in the shop. If you add a few more patterns, I’ll create a promotional thread for it.
