That’s always how it is for me when I knit socks—50 grams is too little, 100 grams is too much. There’s always some left over. If you want to use up leftover sock yarn, I have an idea for you.

Take a look!

Knitted wrist warmers that require about 90 meters of sock yarn. That’s roughly the amount I always have left over from knitting socks. They’re pretty to look at with a fun openwork pattern and are a lot of fun to knit.

For this beautiful doll cardigan you only need 20 g of sock yarn, a few buttons, and suitable knitting needles. And just like that, you can knit this lovely garment yourself for your daughters’ and granddaughters’ dolls. The knitting pattern is also suitable for beginners who already know how to knit with a set of double-pointed needles or would like to learn. Over 23 pages, I show and explain everything in great detail. You can knit the cardigan in any length you like. We start at the neck and knit toward the hem, so you can decide the length of the cardigan yourself at any time. Materials:
  • approx. 20–25 g of sock yarn (4-ply, approx. 420 meters running length/100 g; amount varies depending on the length of the cardigan)
  • 1 set of size 2 double-pointed needles (4 needles)
  • 1 size 2 circular needle (from 40 cm long)
  • 3 (or more, if desired) buttons
I hope you enjoy this handcraft. Yours, Ina

Small knitted gift pouches are also a great way to use up a few leftover bits of sock yarn.

You can find the pattern here.

I think they look especially nice in bright colors, but of course that also depends on the person receiving the gift. They are easy to knit - the only small difficulty might be the eyelet round through which the ribbon is threaded, but otherwise only knit and purl stitches are used.

I have another great tip for the upcoming cooler season that you can make with just a few grams of felting wool: hand-knitted and felted insoles . No more cold feet in rubber boots or clogs. I bet men and kids will love them, too! A little effort, big impact.

I hope you have lots of fun with this super-easy and very practical project — Ina

Girls love playing with Barbie dolls. This
mermaid outfit is something many a doll mum (perhaps with a little help from doll grandma) can crochet herself from a few strands of leftover blue or green yarn. The colors can also be mixed. The shell stitch is very simple and is explained in detail in the pattern.

With a small leftover bit of cotton and about 1 hour of time, you can join in and knit yourself a pretty bookmark.

You can find the pattern here.

The bookmark has a lace pattern that is a little reminiscent of leaves. A knitting chart helps you make it.

The cuddly Christmas Knobblys are also great for using up leftovers!
With the specified materials, the little bag charms are only about 7 cm in diameter (the ball-shaped body) - and each Knobbly only needs about 15 to 20 g of the main color.

As always, the crochet pattern is very detailed and easy to master step by step ♥
