Hi everyone
What are you up to today on this holiday?
It’s raining here right now. So my top priority is finishing the Christmas gift for one of my granddaughters.
I’m enjoying the peace and quiet that reigns here right now.
It’s perfect for continuing to edit one of my daughter’s stories.
I’ve also started working on my big tablecloth project again.
Other than that, it’s just a day like any other for me.
We got back from vacation yesterday. We’re still adjusting to the 6-hour time difference. We’re having a very quiet day on the couch today, with a bit of laundry in between and picking up our bunnies from their “vacation boarding.”
But with this cold and rain… brrrrrr… cold… yeah, the couch and knitting—that’ll be my main activity.
With this lousy weather, I think I’ll get started on the napkins for my embroidered Christmas tablecloth. It’s nice to just sit at home and do some crafts! I actually wanted to finish a crochet project, but I ran out of yarn and the new supply probably won’t arrive until tomorrow.
It’s not a holiday here in Austria. So I’m at work and busy in the office (though I do sneak a peek at the forum every now and then).
But it’s been raining here all day, too. By the time I get home, it won’t matter what the weather’s like anyway. But at least I’ll be able to sit by the cozy fireplace in the evening and keep working on my mom’s Christmas present.
A little housework, a little animal welfare work, now I’m cooking, and in an hour I have to go to work. I haven’t crocheted a single stitch yet today. Well, maybe a little bit at midnight ; -)
This morning I was at our construction site—painting the guest bathroom. (We’re moving in 2 weeks!! I’m sooo happy!! :))
Now I’m tweaking a pattern a bit before it goes live, and later we’ll have our last barbecue of the year.
After dinner, I’ll finish up a little hat—my goal for the year (to crochet lots of hats and scarves for underprivileged children) is still waaaay from being achieved :)
I spent a lovely day in Wernigerode with my husband and our dog.
We were lucky with the weather. A few cute shops were open, and I got to browse around a little. :-)
It’s not a holiday here, but because we’re close to the border, we always feel it too, since lots of Germans come over here to shop. On that day, it’s always best if you don’t have to go into town — it’s the worst traffic jam of the year :-)
Wishing all our neighbors a lovely rest of the holiday!
We’ve had some lovely visitors so far. And I was given a beautiful, very old needlework book as a gift. It’s a real treasure, and I was so happy to receive it. :-) The book is surely at least about 50 years old—at least judging by the fashion.
This morning I continued working on my patterns. And now I’m going to make some progress on the baby blanket. The needles are already calling. ;-)
Wishing you all a lovely evening with the clatter of knitting needles. :-)
Warm regards from Eastern Bavaria, where it’s not raining right now
I’m going to bed now; I was at the hospital ICU all day because of my mom. Tomorrow I’ll see whether I’ll be able to go on my planned vacation—it’s a difficult situation right now.
okay, the holiday is already over, but I still want to tell you what we
did.
We had really great weather, the sun shone all day, but it was cold.
We went hiking with a family we're friends with to a castle in our area,
where there was a family festival with lots of great things for the children. On the way, we
collected lots of chestnuts.
I’m in a similar situation to you right now, Klaus. I’ve spent the last few days at the hospital with my dad. But being in the ICU also means they’re taking especially good care of your mom there.
Anyway, I hope you don’t have to read this because you’ve already left for your vacation. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you!
