Monday Question - Have you tried using yarn for dish sponges yet?

Hi everyone
have you tried Creative Bubble yet?

I was skeptical at first, but I have to admit that I’ve come to like it. I’ve tried out a few items and have even given some as gifts. The person who received the dish sponge was absolutely thrilled with it.
Who among you has already knitted or crocheted something with it?
Do you like it too, or not so much?

Here’s a picture for you:

I haven’t used it yet. Don’t the scratchy fibers start to hurt your fingers after a while?

@Michaela

The yarn isn’t as scratchy as it looks. If you don’t crochet or knit too tightly—in other words, if you let the yarn run normally over your index finger—it works out fine. Plus, the pieces are quick to make.

Best wishes, Marion

Would this yarn also be suitable for an exfoliating sponge?

Yes, it’s actually wonderful. It feels nice against the skin. I just crocheted one of these fluffy little things today.

Here’s the picture.
This is my first attempt—I’m not quite satisfied with how I sewed it together yet. The next one will definitely be better.

Awesome, thank you so much.
That would actually be a great idea for a little gift :-)

I’ve seen a lot of them that I thought were nice—it’s a nice change from the usual cotton dish sponges. How about washing them? At what temperature can they go in the washing machine?

I bought the sponge yarn a while back. It’s easier to work with than I thought, and it even unravels easily. It doesn’t scratch, either.
However, I’m still not sure what I’m going to make with it, and my friend hasn’t decided yet what we’ll make with her yarn either.
But since the yarn is so light and loose, it “floats” nicely in the waiting pile...wink,

best regards, Marlies

Hey there,
according to the manufacturer, the yarn I ordered from Rico can go in the dishwasher or washing machine at 60 °C. However, my supplier won’t be able to deliver this synthetic yarn until around the end of October. I’m already curious to see how it works up. The swatches felt good—textured but comfortable—and I can definitely see it being used for massage (exfoliation). Amigurumi specialists should be able to have a blast with this ;-)
Have a lovely evening, and
best regards, Traudelina

I’d definitely be tempted to try it—it looks really interesting. But I’ve never seen it in a store.

I’m glad you’re enjoying this topic.

@ Michaela There’s a video online of a beautiful rose (scrubby version) that I’d still like to try. It might make a nice gift.

Best regards, Marion

I’ve already tried the yarn. It’s very easy to crochet with and it’s fun!
I made the unicorn sponge from Carosfummeley for a friend.
I think the yarn would also be great for exfoliating sponges!

I just bought the yarn and want to use it to crochet Christmas gifts for my coworkers. I’ve already found some fun patterns for it.
Marion from Wollefaden: I’m also interested in the rose. And is there a pattern for the “Wuschen-Puschel” too?

Best wishes, Christina

Hi Christina

The patterns for both items are available online as videos (YouTube). The rose is crocheted, and the fluffy pom-pom is knitted.

They’re easy to make.

Have fun trying them out.
Best wishes, Marion

Hi Marion, look what you’ve done: I took a look at the patterns you mentioned and now I have to make them IMMEDIATELY, which means I’ll need to pack even more yarn for the trip (luckily, it doesn’t take up much space!)
Best, Christina

Hi Christina,

that's unfortunate — so unfortunately you can't join the yarn diet. - grin -.

But the pieces are really beautiful, and you won’t get bored on vacation if the weather isn’t so great.

If you feel like it, show us your creations.

Have a great vacation.
Best, Marion

You’re wrong there, dear Marion: I’ve had that yarn lying around for ages! And on city trips, the weather is only a secondary concern—but I’m still hoping for a few spare minutes for handicrafts every day!
