Leftover sock yarn is especially suitable for baby socks.
Sock knitting tutorial for 4-ply yarn – all sizes for baby, children’s, women’s, and men’s socks

(Please click the image to purchase/download)

Sock knitting (possibly using leftover sock yarn) is wonderful – no matter where you are,

  • whether on the couch in rainy or snowy weather
  • whether winter or summer
  • during a (work) break
  • in a boat on a lake or the sea
  • at the beach
  • while traveling by train or plane
  • or wherever else...
...and little and big feet alike will be delighted with the results...

This is an illustrated sock-knitting tutorial using size 15 baby socks as an example knitted from 4-ply sock yarn, with charts for all sizes

Included in the download :

  • Detailed PDF main pattern with plenty of pictures, including a short version of the baby mittens pattern
  • hand-drawn sketches
  • Baby sock chart for sizes 15 - 20
  • Sock chart for sizes 22 - 47
Don’t be alarmed! It is harder to describe the process than to knit the socks.

Materials:
4-ply sock yarn (wonderfully soft options include, for example, Ferner “Lungauer Sockengarn” merino sock yarns or Austermann “Step” with aloe vera and jojoba or “Comfort” with cashmere)

  • approx. 15 g for the baby socks,
  • approx. 10 g for the baby mittens,
  • 100 g for adult socks up to size 44,
  • 150 g if larger than size 44.
2.5 mm double-pointed needles, tape measure, scissors, wool needle for weaving in ends.

The baby socks can also be embroidered, for example, and used in various ways - not just as baby socks - such as “wrapping” for money gifts or sweets, as an Advent calendar, as a key ring, etc.

This bookmark is well suited for those small amounts of cotton yarn that are left over from time to time.

The pattern can be found here.

These little things are great fun to knit and can be addictive. They feature a lace pattern that is a bit reminiscent of leaves (knitting chart included). You should allow about 20 m of yarn and 1 hour of time.

5 grams of cotton per little tree!
These little Christmas trees (approx. 9 cm tall) are really great and useful stash busters!
With or without decoration, they’re perfect as personalized gift tags. Sew two trees together and stuff them with a little stuffing - and you’ve got a lovely Christmas tree ornament (or keychain!)
