Zoo Animals

Dear users, dear authors,
opinions can differ on keeping animals in zoos. It certainly does not correspond to an animal’s natural habitat, e.g. letting polar bears live in our latitudes. But—and this is an important but—zoos are important when it comes to preserving some animal species that might otherwise have problems in the wild.
Here on Crazypatterns, of course, none of this is a problem; animal patterns can be made at any time, and in the shop you can always find plenty of new animal items.
Shop animals now and make them.

@Authors,
2–3 patterns per author are enough.
Don’t forget the link and image, as well as the usual information.

Karim the lemur is a funny, always cheerful ring-tailed lemur and, like his living relatives, active during the day. That’s when he loves to be cuddled and also to laze around a bit. Who will give this little rascal a new home?
Karim the lemur will be 25 cm tall when sitting, using the specified materials.
The pattern includes many step-by-step photos that make it easier to recreate. However, basic crochet skills (single crochet, spiral rounds, etc.) are required.
The following materials are needed to make it:
  • 100 g cotton yarn in medium gray
  • 50 g cotton yarn in black
  • 50 g cotton yarn in white
  • 25 g cotton yarn in brown
  • leftover cotton yarn in pink (for the tongue)
  • one pair of safety eyes, 12 mm, in yellow-black
  • one safety eye, 12 mm, in black (as the nose)
  • stuffing
  • crochet hook size 3

Elephants love the water! That goes for Bully, too, of course—but unfortunately, he isn’t a very good swimmer. That’s why he has his swim ring with him. Then he can set his little boat afloat safely.
Want to have Bully at home? Then just crochet your own! It’s not hard at all. The 21-page pattern includes lots of pictures and explains each step in detail. The last 5 pages include a printable version without pictures.

This lion couple in love naturally feels especially at home in the savanna, but they’ll surely like it at your home at least as much!
They are about 7 cm tall, can be crocheted from a few bits of yellow leftover yarn, and are perfect as lucky charms or keychains (for example, for those born under the sign of Leo) or simply to tuck into your pants pocket and love.
Here’s the pattern!

Crochet Pattern Hippos and Mouse

Ballet Night at the Zoo

The hippos Paul and Paula and their little mouse friend Pipsi invite you to the hippodrome for the pachyderms' ballet....
Two giants and one tiny one provide play, fun, and excitement. You just have to love them. For playing, cuddling, or giving as a gift,

The hippos are about 30 cm tall and the tiny one... about 10 cm, but when dancing, the three are an unbeatable team, and the size difference is no longer noticeable at all.

The pattern is thorough and detailed, with numerous step-by-step photos.

Just the right thing for beginners with basic knowledge. (techniques used, such as magic ring and invisible decreases, are explained clearly in words and pictures)

Materials and supplies:
  • Crochet hook 4 mm
  • Yarn and leftover yarn in gray, green, red, rose or pink, white
  • 2 pairs of 15 mm safety eyes for the hippos (alternatively, these can also be embroidered on)
  • 1 pair of googly eyes for the mouse
  • 2 buttons
  • Stuffing

Crochet pattern Eddie the baby elephant

--> Click here for the pattern

Isn't Eddie enchantingly cute? This little elephant is just asking to be cuddled and will delight every heart. A baby elephant like this doesn't belong in the zoo, but in your home :-)

In my crochet pattern, the making of this sweet little elephant is described step by step with lots of pictures. The pattern is also very good for beginners, as there are so many pictures and detailed descriptions. Measurements of the elephant when worked with Happy Anti Pilling: 33x30 cm

Difficulty level: Easy

What you need

Gründl Happy yarn (light gray – approx. 350 g - , a little dark gray, black, pink, blue, yellow), stuffing, needle size 3.5, yarn needle, and scissors

Here is a super-sweet floppy-limbed giraffe who absolutely wants to go everywhere with you.
Preferably for cuddling, of course.
Jonathan, the giraffe, is approx. 65 cm tall and is also very well suited for using up leftover yarn.

You can find the pattern here.

It was crocheted with approx. 5 skeins of acrylic yarn and a size 2.5 hook; add stuffing and safety eyes, and you’re ready to get started.

  • Skills needed:
  • single crochet
  • slip stitch
  • increasing and decreasing
  • color changes
  • crocheting in spiral rounds
