Dear users, dear authors,
This thread has room for all larger birds, including birds of prey, of course.
Most people only know flamingos from the zoo or perhaps from vacation, but with the patterns from Crazypatterns, everyone can have their own flamingo. Swans, ravens, and storks can also be found around here, and they’re wonderful as amigurumi too. Ostriches, penguins, and eagles are rather rare around here, but the shop has easy-to-follow patterns for them as well.

Here in this thread you can discover birds of all kinds and start making them right away.

Crochet pattern "Life-Size Eagle"

Bald eagles are not only beautiful and large animals in nature, but also huge when crocheted if you make them using this pattern. This eagle measures 80 cm from head to tail tip and has a wingspan of 2.20 meters when the wings are fully spread. 

The handmade feathers made from gradient yarn make it look especially realistic.

To make this majestic animal, you need quite a lot of material, patience, and experience. 

Difficulty level: Difficult (you should already have good crochet skills)

What you need: 

Supplies: 

•      Binding wire for chain-link fences, approx. 12 meters
  
•      Regular craft wire 5x 
  
•      Thin brown craft wire from Rayer 1x
  
•      Two yellow eyes, approx. 17 mm
•      Some wide elastic band
•      Scissors,  lots of glue, small brush, 5-6 x hairspray and/or spray starch
  
•      Pliers for cutting and bending wire 
  
•      A lot of stuffing (coarse pillow filling for the body + regular stuffing)
  
•     Optional/Recommended: Lead sheets, approx. 500 g (sometimes available for free as scraps from roofing/plumbing companies) or perforated plates from the hardware store (the main thing is that they are heavy and flat)

Yarn:      Happy Anti-Pilling (or other yarn for hook size 3.5-5)

Cheerful Penguin

This little, cheerful penguin, about 40 cm tall, brings a smile to everyone’s face, despite the crowds.

In my detailed crochet pattern, I also use lots of pictures to show how the penguin was made. This makes the penguin well suited for beginners too.

Difficulty level: Easy to intermediate 

What you need:

• Gründl Happy yarn (get 1 skein each in light gray, black, white, and yellow) 
  
• For the scarf and hat, Lisa Uni by Gründl in red and blue
  
• Stuffing 
  
• Hook size 3.5, yarn needle and scissors, pom-pom maker (alternatively 2 cardboard circles)

Almost all parts are worked in continuous rounds and joined together later.

FM = single crochet 
Lm = chain stitch
hStb = half double crochet

Colorful, cuddly, and totally cheerful, Pino Bird of Paradise struts through the world.
He is a totally crazy leftover-yarn eater and has devoured so much leftover yarn that he has become round as a ball.
He is made entirely from leftover yarn, so it’s a great way to reduce a few mountains of leftover yarn.
Once finished, he will be approx. 32 cm tall (when using the specified hook size and yarn weight). You will receive a detailed 20-page pattern with lots of photos to follow along.

A Penguin Family


These three penguins are waddling their way to conquer the world. They’re about 16 cm, 8 cm, and 5 cm tall.
If you’re familiar with basic crochet techniques, you’ll find it a breeze to make these three.
You’ll need:

• 50 g cotton yarn, 125 m/50 g, white
• 100 g cotton yarn, 125 m/50 g, black
• Scraps of yellow cotton yarn

A lovable raven and a buddy and friend for the children’s room :-)
Emil is always a popular character, loved by both big and little amigurumi fans.
Single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet, two eyes and stuffing. Use the yarn you have at home. From 70 g if you crochet with acrylic. A little more with cotton. 
It’s best to get started right away, and then Emil can lounge comfortably on the couch with you sometime :-)

Dove for a christening or for a bridal couple

I crocheted this dove as a money gift messenger for our christening child, embroidering the name on the chest and the christening date on the wings. My little tits and pictures helped me as idea references for my self-developed pattern.

The pattern is written with color changes for the wood pigeon. It can simply be used for the white dove; only the tail feathers are described differently.
The pattern can also be crocheted by beginners. It looks harder than it is. Every round is described and includes detailed pictures.

The assembly and sewing together of the
individual pieces is probably more difficult. Properly sewn on securely, my grandchildren now play with the
two newly crocheted doves.

Catania cotton by Schachenmayr or any other “school yarn”  yardage 150 / 133 / 125
50g For the white dove:   50 g total; for the gray one:  various shades of gray   (2–5) 
 
Stuffing material – cotton wool or similar – I have kept a cushion filled with foam rubber flakes for these
purposes and use it as stuffing material

Pipe cleaners or macramé cord for the feet, embroidery thread
