Dear users, dear designers,
what do you do on Scrap-Using Day? Do you have a set day for it, or do you just do it here and there?
Thanks to arni for the word.

@Josefa,

if you mean leftover yarn, it gets hoarded and reused again and again for little things like noses, eyes, or bows.... there’s no special day for that.

and we don’t have a “Use-Up Food Leftovers Day” either—everything gets polished off in no time here^^

You’re welcome, Josefa :-)
For me, as I’ve already mentioned, it’s Thursday. That’s when I leave my current project in my bag and pull out the bag with my leftovers.
Otherwise, I never use them up. I’ve got an idea for tomorrow, too. I’m starting with guardian angels. Those will probably end up as Christmas or baby gifts.

I do it more like Sabine and use the scraps for little projects. Right now, though, I’m using them up because I want to make a new thumbnail image for the Ü-Ei mice, and all the original mice are already gone. That way, the scraps get used up too.

When it comes to food, we just devour everything right away :-))

Right now I’m using up my leftover yarn to add to the play kitchen and shop for my grandson. a0
Candy, ice cream, cookies, fruit, and vegetables. That uses up quite a bit of my stash, or rather my leftover yarn. My crocheted hearts don’t need much yarn either, and I always keep that on hand as a small gift.

As for food, I freeze leftovers in individual portions, so I always have something quick on the table for myself.

Lately, I’ve been crocheting gift ribbons from leftover yarn. When my yarn stash gets too large, the kindergarten is happy to receive a yarn donation.

I think a stash-busting day is a great idea!

I think it’s funny that someone else does that, too. For me, it’s always Monday. Very rarely does it shift to Tuesday.
I always have plenty of projects lined up for that day. Most of the time, I use the leftover yarn to test out new ideas. The last three I tried out were given away faster than I could finish them. Since the pieces are always so colorful, they’re a big hit with my relatives.

I started doing this when a friend’s little daughter completely tore apart my scrap box and unwound everything. I then rewound it all with my sister—she’s not into crafts, but she loves winding yarn.
And that’s when I discovered the treasures hidden inside. And then the ideas started flowing.
And just one day a week—otherwise my husband gets annoyed, since I have to spread these scraps all over the place so I can see what colors I have.
And on Mondays, because that’s when “Schnell ermittelt” is on, and he doesn’t like the show, so I have the whole couch to myself—and it ends up covered in leftover yarn.....

I use up my leftover yarn however I feel like it.

Right now, I’m crocheting headbands in different styles.
They’re perfect for working on while riding the bus or train.
They’re also great to work on while watching TV, since I don’t use (too) complicated patterns.
