Dear users, dear authors,
what is special about crocheting to you?

What fascinates me about crocheting is how amazing things can be created using just one hook and relatively simple stitches.
I used to crochet a lot of doilies; now I make lace shawls. Crocheted items are back in style, and especially for the warmer months, you can crochet wonderful tops or tunics.
I love that touch of lace and romance that many crocheted pieces have. I remember a top I crocheted almost 20 years ago. It was a tunic with a pineapple pattern. Today, those pieces are back in style again. :-)

Crochet projects are perfect for bus and train rides.

If the hook slips out, the stitches aren’t in danger, as is often the case with knitting.

If I’ve made a mistake or want to change something—no problem.
Just unravel it.

Plus, the result is usually visible relatively quickly.

I used to knit more. But what always bothered me about it was that you don’t really see the result until you take the work off the needles. With crocheting, on the other hand, you can see it almost immediately. Plus, you don’t lose any stitches if you ever have to unravel something. And last but not least, crocheting is usually faster than knitting.

I’m more of a knitter, but lately I’ve been enjoying picking up a crochet hook every now and then. I learned to crochet from my grandma when I was a little kid. Her whole apartment was full of crocheted doilies, and I wanted to be able to do that too. Whenever I crochet, I always get really nostalgic :-)

For me, crocheting is pure relaxation. As I mentioned above, stitches don’t fall off the hook, and it’s easy to make corrections. When I’m experimenting with a new project, I can quickly and easily unravel it and try again. When I’m knitting, I break out in a sweat if I spot a mistake and have to rip it out…
I also really love the variety of stitches and patterns in crochet.
Amigurumis are pretty quick to crochet; I couldn’t knit them at all, and I don’t know how to use a set of double-pointed needles either.

Crocheting is simply fun for me.
Who would have thought that I would get into crocheting someday, but by now there are soooo....... many refreshing ideas with hook and yarn.

What I find special is that, whether a wonderful piece is recreated or an idea of your own comes to life, every item is one of a kind. After all, my hands made it. That applies to every kind of handicraft.

Best regards, Petra

I love crocheting because it’s simple, quick, and offers so many amazing possibilities (especially with amigurumi). But above all, it’s because it’s less prone to mistakes—or rather, it’s more forgiving of mistakes than knitting. I’ve dropped stitches so many times that I’ve had to painstakingly pick them back up, which has made me lose interest in knitting. Or when stitches were missing because I miscounted... or when the yarn for the cast-on was too short... I admire anyone who has the patience and attention to detail for it.

I love it because I can turn my kids’ drawings and special requests into little figures that they can actually hold and play with.

You can also use it to make things you really need. So not just amigurumi that everyone loves, but also blankets, pot holders, table runners,......

Plus, it’s relaxing, and for me, it’s the best way to “wind down.”
