Berli design at Crazy Patterns

Berli design was founded in 2012 – by me :)

My name is Nicole, I’m now 33 years young, I have 2 children, Melina and Elias, and I’ve been married since 2009. I come from the beautiful Vordereifel region, near Maria Laach (Laacher See), in the Mayen-Koblenz district. But in 2007, love brought me to Bavaria, near Regensburg.
I love crocheting; I’ve been crocheting since I learned it in school. My grandma was also very talented at crocheting and knitting, and she taught me quite a few tricks too.
In general, I’m a very artistic person; for a while I even painted watercolors and oil paintings. Unfortunately, my children don’t leave me any time for that anymore, or rather, I couldn’t just leave my easel standing around, and I don’t have a lockable workroom. And anyone who has painted watercolors themselves will know that you can’t keep taking breaks, but should paint while it’s wet.
That’s where crocheting is naturally much more convenient: you can quickly put the hook aside, take care of the household, pop into the children’s room, settle a little argument, open the door for the mail carrier with the yarn restock, and still have 5 minutes for small talk. Oh yes, and what’s really important: you get to know an incredible number of new and creative people.
So many interesting designers for amigurumis, shawls, cuddly toys, decorations, clothing items (especially hats and scarves) – not just in the crochet area, but also in knitting, crafting, and sewing. It’s a lot of fun to be able to admire such creativity.
I myself became self-employed in 2012; I don’t just take commissions, I also design myself. I write beginner-friendly, illustrated, and thoroughly explained crochet patterns. I make amigurumis, cuddly toys, clothing items, and decorations. There are so many ideas in my head; only time is always working against me.
You might not believe it, but there are creative thoughts that get crocheted, every step is recorded by hand, important steps are even photographed, then the whole thing is written up into a proper PDF version; THIS can take weeks depending on the scope.
We designers put in a great deal of effort and have a lot of work to do to present and offer you wonderful and, above all, versatile and varied crochet patterns (some free, some as paid versions).

And that’s where Crazy Patterns comes into play. Crazy Patterns was founded in 2013 as a project of the company AISYS. It is a new platform for designers to share their patterns on crochet, knitting, crafting, and sewing with many fans of these creative hobbies.
CP – as it’s often abbreviated here in the forum – supports both buyers and sellers with help and advice. Very good and fast service, no matter the situation. And if a solution isn’t found right away, the CP team quickly works on one – and what’s especially great is that WE – buyers and sellers – are included.

The little contests that take place here are especially nice; in other words, certain patterns are selected, you can then make them, post a photo in the Crazy Patterns gallery, and the most beautiful work receives a prize.
There are plans to start a contest in which ALL patterns take part, not just “selected” ones. As I said, this is being planned.

*****************************************

I myself have been here with my small business, berli design, since 2014. And I have to say I’m positively surprised that it’s really going so well – not only in terms of sales figures (I’m still more of a small fish there) – I mean everything around it: we’re allowed to have and express opinions, wishes are taken into account, you always get feedback from the CP team, you meet nice people – somehow it’s more personal, maybe even more like family. The system isn’t perfect yet…..but personally, I don’t think there’s all that much to improve, and besides, work is being done on it. At this POINT: KEEP IT UP, CRAZY PATTERNS!!!

Before I discovered CP, my platforms were Dawanda and Ravelry. Of course I’m still active there too, but those platforms are very “anonymous.” Things are much warmer here.

And that’s why I’m glad to be here, and I hope we continue to grow here, with new designers, artists, fans, and talented crafters joining us.

**********************************************

And to finish, maybe one or two of you are curious about my designs.
Of course I have a store here on CP
https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/store/berlidesign?ref=berlidesign

I’d be incredibly happy if you took a look.

Of course I also have a blog www.berli-design.de There’s always news there.

Currently worth mentioning is that I recently started working with an 18-person team. We are currently putting the patterns into a new layout and checking everything again very carefully.
I’m very happy and grateful for my team of test crocheters. They’re all very nice and cheerful. We have a lot of fun. Of course, it’s all also a lot of work, but we simply want to do it thoroughly, and it was slowly becoming time for a new layout. I just couldn’t stand the old one anymore J but that means copying everything and inserting it again, redesigning, moving, and adjusting it.

Just today I wrote a small addition to one of my “older” patterns.
The older pattern is the Little Cat Cat Happiness – she has now been joined by the little bunny Bunny Happiness. Both are small amigurumi figures, although they’re not really that small after all, a little longer than my hand. They look cute as decorations, but my daughter tends to use them for playing.
I’m currently still working on a halter top.

What else can I say? If you have any questions, just get in touch :-)
