Nothing going on?

This afternoon I took some pictures of my new shawl and just finished crocheting a custom beanie. Now I’m taking a few minutes to relax, and then I’ll get back to working on the cape.
So things are going well. :-)

This afternoon I finally finished the kids’ backpack and took some pictures of my cuddly bunny...

Now I’m starting on egg cozies for my friend—every year at Easter she needs a few from me. Though I still haven’t figured out if they’re actually used or just for decoration. We don’t use those things—before an egg could even cool down around here, it’s already been eaten five times :-)

Things are going well ;-)

I didn’t get much done yesterday. A mild cold, a general couldn’t-care-less mood, and at the moment some extremely annoying customers as well.
Right now, even crocheting is getting on my nerves.
Maybe it’s also because of the weather. Gray and overcast

Things are great here! I’m on holiday and out and about with the kids every day. They’re on school holidays, and we’re enjoying our time at home.
We meet up with friends every day and get lots of exercise. There’s even time left for crafts—what more could you ask for!

What the heck are “energy holidays”?

We have those here in Austria. They’re during the first three weeks of February. But not all three weeks at once—they’re split up by state, with each state getting one week.
They’re also called “semester breaks,” and they’ve been around since I was a kid.

They were introduced at some point to save energy. That’s why they’re called “energy breaks.” But whether that actually works is really questionable.

Don’t other countries have something like this?

Well, in Germany, only people in Hamburg (as far as I know) have ski vacations in February. Everyone else has Easter break then

In Bavaria, there’s a one-week Carnival break during Carnival week. People usually use that time to go skiing, because there often isn’t enough snow during the Christmas break.

Here in North Rhine-Westphalia, there are no school holidays in February—we have to wait for the Easter holidays.

This year, at the local primary school, there’s no school on Rose Monday and the Friday before, but these are floating holidays, so it won’t be the same everywhere...

@Arnie,

these are the kinds of holidays that drive moms crazy when nobody’s into sports.... The weather’s lousy and everyone’s at home.... So, in my opinion, they’re called that because moms need a lot of “energy” to survive the week ;-))
