My husband and I just finished planning our first vacation for this year. We’ll book it tomorrow, and then we’re off in early April.
A cruise from Shanghai to Singapore. Stops in Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and so on...
I always love it when we can decide within 2–3 days. The anticipation may be a little shorter that way, but the excitement for the vacation is all the greater.
And... what have you guys got planned?
We’re also the type who
make quick decisions.
If we like something — including for vacations — we don’t have to “compulsively” look at or search for alternatives.
I don’t know yet whether we’ll be going on vacation this year.
We’ve just bought a house, and there will certainly still be quite a lot to do over the summer until everything is the way it should be.
And if we do go away, I think it will be Belgium again (in the same holiday park as last year), because it was great there, the kids liked it, it’s only about a 3-hour drive (which isn’t unimportant with the two youngest) ... and the price-performance ratio is good too!
I’d also love to go on a cruise sometime, although Scandinavia or the British Isles would appeal to me more than the Far East.
Well, we’re still taking long-distance trips because we’re at an age where we don’t know how much longer we’ll be able to do this. We also had Scotland and Ireland on our list, but we can do that anytime. That’s just a stone’s throw away.
We’re also the type to make last-minute decisions—for the past three years, we’ve always stayed at a converted mill near Stockach, and it was absolutely amazing. Our dog was welcome, and it’s a great place for walks. But there’s plenty else to do too (Lake Constance, and so on). We probably won’t be able to go on vacation this year, because our little dog (a Labrador) is already 12 years old (a Methuselah for a Labrador) and has arthritis. For the past 14 days, he hasn’t been able to get into the car (not even with a ramp) and certainly can’t get out; he won’t let us carry him—well, it’s not that easy. Getting older isn’t exactly easy for dogs either—smile—.
But our garden feels just like a vacation. Our little dog loves the garden more than anything; it’s such a great place to dig, lie down in the lettuce (hmmm…), and so much more.
The cruise sounds exciting. Do you already know which ship you’ll be on?
We only have our ski vacation in February planned so far. Everything else is still up in the air. We’ll probably go somewhere by car in August. Maybe to Alsace or something like that. Maybe Tyrol again, or to France… We have so many ideas. But we’ll probably end up deciding at the last minute anyway. Best regards
Sandra
Oh, how wonderful—I’d love to go on a cruise sometime, too.
We still have to plan our vacation, since my husband has to take time off during the company’s scheduled vacation period. And I want to keep a week free in September—we’re planning to go back to Bavaria then.
Since we didn’t take a big trip last year and spent a lot of our vacation time at home, we’ve decided to travel to Canada in a motorhome this late summer. We’re taking our daughter, grandchild, and son-in-law along, and we’re already looking forward to it and eagerly flipping through travel guides.
There’s so much to discover in this world, whether far away or close by.
We spent the weekend dealing with this topic.
We’re not traveling alone, so we’re looking for two holiday apartments.
This year we’re heading to Usedom. We booked yesterday and
will be going to that beautiful island at the end of June.
At home, I have a total vacation grouch who never wants to go anywhere. But the kids and I always manage to convince my husband, so this year we’re heading to the lake in August.
We’re vacationing at Grundelsee in the Salzkammergut.
And since we want to stay right on the lake (wake up in the morning and take a quick dip), we booked back in November.
There’s hiking and biking all around, and—especially important for my daughter—horseback riding.
We’re bringing our archery gear, too; there’s a nice archery course there.
I’ve always wanted to go on a beautiful cruise like that with my best friend. First we said we’d do it for our 30th birthdays (that’s when my son was born), then we said for our 40th (that’s when her daughter was born). But we’re not giving up. Now we’ve set our sights firmly on our 50th.
From Shanghai to Singapore—awesome! Petra, I’ll send you a private message about it right away :-))))
But we’re not going to Asia this year—we’re staying in Europe: In February, we’re heading to Spitsbergen with friends (we’ll see how that goes—I’ve never been to the Arctic), and in the spring, my husband and I are going to explore the Amalfi Coast. I’m already super excited....
