A great pattern for “using up” leftover yarn while also making a practical accessory is the pattern for the crocheted pillow “Poduszka”.

This pillow is not just a pillow. It is a neck support and also a seat belt pad for the car. On long highway trips, children (or adults too) in the back seat have a wonderful way to take a little nap. A small pocket, crocheted on at the same time, has room for a smartphone, MP3 player, and so on.

By the way, the name “Poduszka” is Polish and simply means “pillow”.

The pillow consists of 12 individual patches that are crocheted together. The back is crocheted upward lengthwise. A special pattern gives it a great knitted look!

You’ll need:

• approx. 200 - 250 grams of yarn (e.g. Catania cotton by Schachenmayr, yardage 125 m/50 g)) in 4 different colors (you can also work with 2 colors, but you definitely need 4 skeins)
• size 3 crochet hook (if you crochet very tightly, please use half a size to a full size larger)
• an open stitch marker
• sewing needle
• stuffing
• 2 buttons

The finished size of the pillow is approx. 53 x 23 cm when using the suggested yarn
The pattern is 12 pages long and includes a detailed photo tutorial for the patches as well as for the back, plus detailed charts.

All you need is a small amount of leftover yarn of approx. 10 g of a metallic yarn, e.g. used here: Nora Madeira, 25
g – 100 m, 80% viscose, 20% metallized polyester for
crochet hook size 2.5 - 3.0.

However, any yarn you like with a matching crochet hook size can also be used. The
size of the finished piece will then change according to the yarn. In addition, a
2.5 mm crochet hook, scissors, and a yarn needle are needed here.

These crochet skills are required: chain stitches, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet,
treble crochet, slip stitches, crocheting in rows, and crocheting in rounds. The
pattern includes link tips for crochet techniques.

Till Eulenspiegel was a trickster who, according to tradition, was born around 1300. His funny stories still delight people today. Since the cable slightly resembles owls, the hat was named after him during the test knit.

And just like its namesake Till, the hat is very versatile. The colorful version knitted from Wollmeise leftovers reminds me a little of a jester, while the gray version looks classically elegant. You can knit the hat with beads, or without. Both versions are included in the pattern as a separate knitting chart.
