Another fantastic pattern for working with designer yarns is the “Tinuviel” knitting pattern.

It’s a large, crescent-shaped shawl designed specifically for Schoppels’ “Laceball 100” and “Zauberball 100” lace yarns, but it can also be knitted with any other lace yarn or even with a yarn cake. The yarn you choose shouldn’t be thicker than standard wool, otherwise it might lose its light and airy character. It’s knitted from top to bottom, with even increases along the edge and within the shawl to create the shape.

You’ll need:

• approx. 800 meters of lace yarn (e.g., Laceball by Schoppel)
• Circular knitting needle, size 3–4 mm
• Beads (e.g., rocailles)
• A piece of very thin wire or dental floss
• Sewing needle
• Scissors
• Kitchen scale

If you decide to incorporate beads, you’ll find a short tutorial on how to knit them in throughout the pattern.
The pattern is 9 pages long and includes detailed charts and a diagram.

This gorgeous zigzag shawl is also particularly well suited to gradient yarns.

This shawl can be made in any desired length, and everyone can choose the pattern sequence according to their own preferences. Once you understand the principle, you can use my detailed pattern to crochet your own very individual shawl.

I chose a 200 g gradient yarn cake, 3-ply (50% cotton – 50% acrylic), and used 170 g = 850 m for a wingspan of 245 cm.

The pattern is very well written and explained; even special stitches, such as crossed double crochets, are explained in detail, and you’ll find detailed photos, sketches, and charts (all neatly created on a computer and not just scribbled down), so you can crochet this shrug according to your own measurements.

The cotton-blend yarn is incredibly comfortable to wear, and it’s especially wonderful in the summer to slip on a shrug like this when the evenings get a little cooler.

Simple Crochet Poncho with Möbius Shawl Collar (Loop)

Quick and easy to crochet...
With this crochet method, you can decide while crocheting how large the poncho should be – you simply stop crocheting whenever you like. This way, even beginners get quick results.

Poncho and Möbius Scarf are made with thick gradient yarn, 100 g – 100 m, and a 8.0 mm crochet hook. The pattern includes the poncho and Möbius scarf and has pictures, but it is not a crochet course in itself.

These crochet skills are enough:
chain stitches, single crochet, slip stitches, crocheting in rows, crocheting in rounds.

By the way: in a Möbius scarf, the pattern you create is mirrored, i.e. one horizontal half appears like a right outside, while the second half appears like a wrong inside of the pattern. This creates clever effects, depending on how the scarf is draped and how the pattern falls. The Möbius technique in crochet is also very easy.

Gradient yarns are totally on trend.
Crocheting with a yarn cake can be really addictive.

Keny is a crocheted zigzag loop scarf. Made with lace yarn (yarn cake), it is very delicate and looks great.
Here, yarn cake wool from Rellana - Regenbogen was used.
200g = 800 meters, 4-ply yarn and a size 5 crochet hook.

Mara is a beautiful triangular shawl that’s easy to crochet.
You can adjust the size to make it smaller or larger. The pattern repeats every
3 rows.

The shawl was crocheted using 4-ply “Blüten aus Wolle” gradient yarn from Creativshop by Fehrn (800m) and a size 4 crochet hook. It is 130 cm wide and 56 cm tall. If you’d like to make it larger, I recommend using 1000m of yarn.

A great design that is perfect for crocheting with a designer gradient cake is the shawl "Dance with Dolphins".
I designed it during my trip through New Zealand and crocheted my own little South Seas dream into it.

You need:

• approx. 1200 - 1300 meters of yarn (e.g., from 100Farbspiele) 
• Crochet hook in the appropriate size (if you crochet tightly, it’s better to choose one size larger) 
• Sewing needle for weaving in the ends
  

The finished size is approx. 200 x 90 cm.

For the shawl, only basic crochet skills are needed (slip stitches, single crochet, chain stitches, double crochet, etc...).

The pattern has been test-crocheted and checked for errors. It is 21 pages long and includes detailed row-by-row instructions as well as professionally created charts.

My latest creation made from a yarn cake is the crocheted Esmeralda soul warmer

  

Esmeralda is a Spanish first name meaning “gemstone.” The most famous character associated with this name is the Gypsy woman from Victor Hugo’s novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Since this soul warmer looks very elegant but also gently caresses the soul, it seemed like the perfect association to me.

The 7-page pattern includes a complete crochet chart, as well as instructions and illustrations for the finishing. The first few rows are also explained in writing.

You’re purchasing the pattern for a uni-size model. This means you can use this pattern to crochet all sizes from XS to XXXL. How to determine the measurements for each size is explained in one step.

The “Margery” shawl is especially suitable for beginners, including those working with a yarn cake for the first time. The pattern can be made even with just a little crochet experience (chain stitches, single crochet, slip stitch, half double crochet, double crochet). Of course, experienced and expert crocheters can also make this loop.

We used a three-ply yarn cake with a length of 750 m.

This slightly asymmetrical triangular shawl is a great project for gradient yarn; it’s knitted with 100 grams of yarn with a yardage of approximately 420 m/100 g. It’s worked entirely in knit stitches,
but the effect is fantastic!
The pattern is easy to follow and very simple.

A beautiful crochet shawl that’s perfect for beginners and looks stunning when made with a gradient yarn is the “Rosa Wölkchen” shawl.

You start at one corner and crochet toward the other—that is, sideways. The cute border, which resembles little clouds, is crocheted right into the shawl.

Even leftover yarn can be put to great use with this design.

No special crochet skills are required for this shawl, but you should have basic crochet knowledge (chain stitches, single crochet, double crochet, and crocheting stitches together).

You’ll need:

• approx. 600–800 meters of yarn (depending on the yarn’s yardage)
• A crochet hook of the appropriate size (if you crochet very tightly, choose a hook one size larger)
• Kitchen scale or other digital scale to determine half the amount of yarn needed
• A needle for weaving in the ends

The finished shawl measures approximately 200 x 90 cm.
The pattern is 15 pages long and includes a step-by-step photo tutorial, detailed charts, and a diagram. It has been tested and checked for errors.
