Baking cookies

Have you started yet?

Huh? It’s only the beginning of October! Just because the stores already have cinnamon stars doesn’t mean I have to get caught up in the Christmas rush just yet. So I’ll start in the last week of November at the earliest. They’re supposed to be eaten during Advent, after all. If I started baking now, there wouldn’t be any left by then!

Yes, we’ve already baked vanilla crescents twice, and they were gone in a flash... but that was just to whet our appetite ☺. Things will really get going in the middle of next month, and that’s when we’ll be baking in huge quantities.

I haven't baked any yet. But I'm totally into Pfeffernüsse :-)

No, I haven’t baked any yet. It’s still way too early for that. (Not to mention that I’m not really much of a cookie baker anyway… I’m more of an eater when it comes to cookies…)
But starting in October, the office is always stocked with those mini marzipan stollen from Lidl. It’s never too early for those ;-)

Well, I’m definitely the cookie-eater, not the cookie-baker.

In our family, we have a clear division of labor. And since my sister is a pastry chef, the roles are already set. She bakes, I eat.

We baked our first batch of cookies today. We made piped cookies and have already tasted tons of them. Hihihi, but there are still some left. It’s been three years since we last baked any. Our son wanted some again… The three of us were standing at the oven—it must have looked pretty funny.

For me, Christmas is a sad holiday. Cookies? No, none—smile—

Who’s baking cookies right now?

Raises hand! I’m baking this weekend after not having baked for the last three years. Something was missing....

If I bake cookies today, they’ll be gone by tomorrow... so I’ll have to wait a little longer... ;-))

First we’ll write up the shopping list, then stock up the pantry with everything we need, and then we’ll get started...
This year will be easier for me since my uncle is helping out full-time :-) and the kids will be put to work brushing and glazing anyway.... Still, just like every year, it’ll take us about 10 days to bake everything....
And just like every year, we’ll have to bake a few extra batches—somehow, the Christmas mice always seem to find their way into the pantry during this time and empty the cookie jars, by the kilo. And nobody did it :-)

I definitely don't have time to bake—and I'm not really much of a baker anyway! I hope my mom and my friends bake enough so there's some left over for us ;-)) And if not, I'm sure there'll be something delicious at the bakery!
