Spiral Socks / Socks That Grow with the Foot

Dear users, dear authors,
how do you knit spiral socks or socks that grow with the foot without a heel?

Hi everyone,

even though I’m not much of a knitter, I still enjoy knitting spiral socks every now and then...
I simply work them from the top down, usually starting with a cuff of alternating 2 knit/2 purl stitches and then continuing in the spiral pattern.
For small socks, I usually alternate 3 knit/3 purl stitches and “shift” one stitch to the left after every 3 rounds; that is, I purl the first knit stitch, then knit 3, then purl 3, and so on. After another 3 rounds, I shift one stitch to the left again...
For larger socks, I work a 4-stitch pattern over 4 rounds.
Once the socks are long enough, I start decreasing toward the toe… and that’s it…
This type of sock will fit for a long time and always fit well!

P.S.: You can certainly crochet socks like this too… I’ll definitely have to give that a try…
