I mentioned this somewhere before—it might have gotten lost in the mix.
What seems to be missing is a “Festive” or “Special Occasions” category. A place where you could offer beautiful, elegant accessories, like a stole or a shawl to go with a wedding dress.
This thread is actually about users’ topic requests for the authors, not about categories, but if anyone would like to request a category, they’re welcome to do so. However, I can’t guarantee that it will be implemented.
Usually I find what I’m looking for. So far, it has only happened twice that I couldn’t find anything, and if the right patterns were available someday, I would snap them up right away.
Specifically, I was looking for a sewing pattern for a one-piece jersey pajama suit with long sleeves for babies, fastened at the front with snap buttons, and without frills like a hood or anything similar. I found lots of pajamas, but just not exactly the right thing.
The second time, I wanted to crochet baby overalls. It was supposed to be a playful model. I found one model that would have been suitable, but the yarn used was discontinued and I couldn’t easily get it, which is why I didn’t buy the pattern after all. I would love something made with 125m/50g yarn, like Schachenmayr Catania.
It would be great if I could get these patterns someday.
It would be nice to see some more Tunisian crochet items. I’ve already found a few things, but I haven’t found the right one yet... A while back, I ordered a set of Tunisian crochet hooks with a cord, and now I’m finding lots of things for a double-ended hook...
.
I’d like to crochet something in Tunisian crochet soon.
A baby blanket and a large bag, but unfortunately it’ll still take a little while because I have to finish some other things first. If you can be a little more patient.
I’d love to see some cool stuff for older boys. There are so many beautiful things for girls, and if it were up to my daughter, I’d make her everything.
But my son is always complaining that there’s nothing for him.
I should probably define what “cool” means from his perspective. He’s 9 years old now, and he really likes anything with dragons, warriors, and skulls.
When it comes to clothes,
there’s usually more for girls and little boys. Maybe that’s because older boys generally don’t want to wear those things anymore, but my son really likes to wear them as long as they’re “casual” enough.
And unfortunately, I’m not good enough at knitting to come up with my own designs like I do with the stuffed animals I crochet.
The same goes for men’s clothing. My dad really enjoys having things knitted for him. The only things he can’t stand are scarves and hats. He loves vests and sweaters, or sometimes wears something a bit more unusual. And I always have a hard time finding something he likes, so I often piece together different patterns to make sure the final result suits his taste.
I just thought of something else... I have a round frame for a clasp purse in my drawer, but I can’t find a matching crochet pattern for it. Does anyone happen to have a pattern that I might have overlooked?
@PeKa
My older one (20) is also totally into dragons and wolves. That’s why I still have a wolf and a dragon planned—though they were intended for adult sizes. Could you write what size your son needs? Then I might be able to plan it so the sweater can also be scaled down to a child’s size.
And one more question?
How good are you at knitting? Norwegian technique—like here:
or would that make you throw up your hands in horror? Knitting in stockinette and embroidering it with duplicate stitch would be the alternative.
So, he’s in size 140 now. But if I make it, I’ll go straight for the next size up. And while you’re at it, a vest would be better, although I could adapt that and do the pattern on the back.
As for your question, I knitted Norwegian sweaters for my cousins when I was a teen. Sweaters with snowmen skiing and sledding.
A little practice and I’m sure I’ll get back into it.
A wolf would be great; my husband likes that too. He’s always told me he’d definitely never wear anything hand-knitted. But a father-son look like that, yes, that really would be something. My two model aircraft pilots already have T-shirts with helicopters on them, and that always looks great.
@Everyone who would like Advent calendars:
We’ve put together some highlights here:
https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/forum/topic/22053/adventsdeko-adventskalender
and I know from a reliable source that there will be even more Advent calendars that are still on the needles at the moment, but will soon be finished and available in the shop.
Just stay tuned. :-)
I hadn’t even thought of grandpa-grandchild. I’d really have a chance there, because both “gentlemen” like wearing handmade things.
For larger needle sizes, I don’t mind; just please not thinner than needle size 3 for knitting. I knit very tightly, and with anything thinner it somehow turns stiff; with size 3 it works.
Although if the pattern says needle size 2.5, then I can switch to 3.......
Yesterday I was already thinking about which projects I should fit this in between. Hopefully my picky son will like it too. Right now he’s in a somewhat difficult “phase” when it comes to clothing. So anything I say he should wear, or anything I like, is guaranteed to be out for him.......
