I made a whole bunch of them back when the kids were little. They’re in a box—I should really take them out sometime. I also gave away a lot of them, but today I can’t even imagine crocheting with a size 1.5 or 2 hook anymore. I’ll show you four of my best ones; I bought all the patterns for them here back then.
I made this witch for my friend back then; I met her online on a book-swapping platform, and her nickname was “kleineroteHexe.” My friend had hair just like that—red with colorful streaks—so I designed this witch’s hair to match.

For this pirate owl, I raided my son’s Playmobil box. You have to be a little flexible when it comes to the design.

I made the unicorn for my daughter once. The crocheting wasn’t too bad—threading the hair was the hardest part.

The book owl fits in one hand; I made it with a size 0.5 hook. I can’t manage that anymore—I’d need a magnifying glass; presbyopia is catching up with me.
