Dear community,
Is your zoo big enough? How many animals / amigurumi do you currently have?

Oh! Oh, how embarrassing. Do I really have to answer that? 🤣 Well, I’ll just count the crocheted ones. I’m in the mid-double digits—that’s not too bad, right?

If you’d rather not answer that, you don’t have to, of course.

I don’t have a single one of these amigurumi animals because I can’t crochet them with my arthritic hands

Best regards, Inge

My crocheted amigurumi didn’t stay with me—other people were happy to have them.

Amazing, Andrea, it’s incredible what you’ve crocheted there

Best, Inge

Thank you, Inge.
I’m still able to crochet despite having mild osteoarthritis.

I made a whole bunch of them back when the kids were little. They’re in a box—I should really take them out sometime. I also gave away a lot of them, but today I can’t even imagine crocheting with a size 1.5 or 2 hook anymore. I’ll show you four of my best ones; I bought all the patterns for them here back then.

I made this witch for my friend back then; I met her online on a book-swapping platform, and her nickname was “kleineroteHexe.” My friend had hair just like that—red with colorful streaks—so I designed this witch’s hair to match.

For this pirate owl, I raided my son’s Playmobil box. You have to be a little flexible when it comes to the design.

I made the unicorn for my daughter once. The crocheting wasn’t too bad—threading the hair was the hardest part.

The book owl fits in one hand; I made it with a size 0.5 hook. I can’t manage that anymore—I’d need a magnifying glass; presbyopia is catching up with me.

Good morning,

you have some really beautiful amigurumi there. The pirate owl is awesome. All those little LEGO details—great!

The book owl is on my list, too—unfortunately, I haven’t crocheted it yet, since there are always new, even cuter patterns popping up here, so I’m spoiled for choice.

I really like it. I still crochet with a 1.75 mm hook every now and then. It works for now, but after that I’ll have to switch to a 2.5 mm hook.
