First Communion / Confirmation / Starting Kindergarten / Starting School: Is That a Topic for You in 2025?

do you have a child / grandchild this year for whom First Communion / Confirmation / starting kindergarten / starting school is a topic?

Yes, our grandson Oskar is starting school this year. The other day, he got his school satchel—which is called a “Tornister” these days and is quite large. His parents are already planning the first-day-of-school celebration—it’s such a big deal these days—and we’ve also been thinking about making a sewn school cone. Everything is always supposed to be unique and special—and that’s only possible with DIY. Well, there’s still a little time left.

it’s not starting kindergarten, starting school, First Communion, or Catholic Confirmation for me, but my niece’s Protestant Confirmation is coming up.
The only handmade item there will be is the message I wrote in the (store-bought) card.
My sister has neither a knack for nor an interest in crafts, and she’s always prevented me from making anything for my niece. The crocheted dress she desperately wanted from me when she was 5—and of course got—was tucked away by my sister in the very back of the closet until it was too small 🙄 …
But maybe my girls will get new crocheted or knitted dresses; there are still 3 weeks to go…😂
