Gussets in Patterned Socks

Hi, I’m knitting socks with a cap heel. The problem is the gusset. It’s no problem with solid-color socks, but how do I handle it when I’m knitting a patterned section in a different color across the entire sock?
For example, if I have a pattern repeat of 8 stitches, there’s this gusset in between, and the pattern no longer lines up. But if I knit solid color across the “gusset rounds,” it creates a wide stripe in the sock. I haven’t found any patterns that explain this yet.
So I’m still knitting the heel in solid color, and the pattern is supposed to be only around it. I can’t explain my problem any better than that. I hope you understand what I mean.
Does anyone have any advice or know of any patterns?

maybe adjust the pattern to fit the gussets and knit it in reverse on the other side.
For example, knit the first 7 stitches of the pattern on one side and the last 7 stitches of the pattern on the other.

Hi, thanks, Marlene. That was a quick reply. But I can see you understand my problem. Just as you suggested, I’m trying that right now. That results in half-hearts on both sides, for example. And that doesn’t really look great. I’ve also considered knitting the entire sole in solid color. But even then, there’s an incomplete pattern on the top.
