Dear community,
what do you always sew by hand / without a machine?

I sew by hand when I’m making teddy bears or other plush critters, for example, because in my opinion it makes the cuddly toy softer and nicer to hold. Back when I used to do “Lieseln,” that was also sewn entirely by hand. *Lieseln* means wrapping hexagons around paper templates and then sewing them together by hand
Most of what I sew, though, is done on a sewing machine

Best regards, Inge

When it comes to small doll clothes (for Barbies or similar), it’s usually easier to sew by hand than with a machine. Even when I need to sew a zipper into a crocheted piece, I prefer to do it by hand.
I always sew on buttons by hand, even though my sewing machine has a buttonhole foot. But I find that when sewn on by hand, they just hold up better.
And the limbs on amigurumi dolls also have to be sewn on by hand.

For a long time, I sewed everything by hand, but then at some point I got a simple sewing machine for those long, boring seams like bag straps and things like that.
I still prefer to sew plush teddy bears and small items by hand, as well as sewing on buttons, but I have some fabrics and sewing patterns for bags and pillows lying around here that would work great on the machine—though right now, I just don’t feel like it at all.

When you stuff sewn items, there’s always a seam left at the end that needs to be closed. I close it by hand using the mattress stitch.

It depends on the project.

When sewing, I always use the machine for long seams, unless the fabric doesn’t allow it.
If the pieces are very small, I also sew by hand—like doll clothes and things like that.

I sew on buttons and make buttonholes by hand. And I also do some hems that way.

When crocheting, I sew everything by hand.
