All Saints' Day 2024

Dear users, dear authors,
how are you spending All Saints' Day?

Very peaceful

First I’m going to bake Inge’s apple clouds. I have apples in the fridge that need using up. 

Then I’ll continue embroidering my blanket, maybe finish a UFO. 

The sun is just coming through the fog; this afternoon I’m going to gather beech leaves for the turtles’ winter quarters. 

A day full of lovely plans.

Dear Josefa, I wish you and all readers a lovely holiday

For us, yesterday was a holiday, but today, November 1, is a normal workday. Many people have the day off to make a long weekend.
It’s been pretty quiet. We went out to eat today (pork knuckle with sauerkraut or schnitzel with mushrooms and croquettes/fries)
Otherwise, we’ve been doing crafts, crocheting, and relaxing.

I’m being a bit lazy today, since I’m really swamped at work right now and just need some rest. But of course, I’ll still be knitting on a new jacket pattern today as well

My grandma always used to say on All Saints' Day: “Today is All Saints' Day, tomorrow is All Souls' Day, and on November 3rd it’s all the stupid devils—that’s our holiday” 😁🤩😊
It was also very relaxed and quiet for me

We used to always go to the cemeteries on All Saints' Day to place something on the various graves, but there aren’t any left now—they’ve all expired—and the next generation has chosen different paths, like burial at sea or forest cemeteries, which I also think is a very beautiful and forward-looking solution.
So we had a cozy, gloomy November day with tea and candlelight, and I started crocheting my way through the Christmas wishes.
