Here in North Rhine-Westphalia, tomorrow—All Saints’ Day—is a holiday, and we don’t really notice Halloween around here; the kids in the neighborhood are either still too young or already too old.
We don’t have any plans, but we’ve had the pleasure of watching others work—yesterday some neighbors moved out, and today new ones are moving in. Quite a bit of hauling!
Unfortunately, Halloween passed us by very quietly yesterday. We live on a dead-end street with little through traffic, so the doorbell only rang once.
Halloween isn’t really my thing either
and tomorrow, on the holiday, and over the weekend I’m going to take things very slowly
and rest, keep my leg elevated, and hope that the examination on Monday
goes well. They suspect I have inflammation in my left leg, but it
could also be the start of another tear in my Achilles tendon (
I had an almost complete tear of the tendon there about 4 or 5 years ago)
or, or, or. The fact is, since yesterday that spot has been
incredibly swollen and keeps hurting. My family doctor
has now taped the area to keep it immobilized, because getting
an appointment with the orthopedist today is impossible. Luckily, you can also
knit or crochet very nicely with your legs up. So things will be very
quiet at our place; luckily, my hubby really enjoys cooking, so I
don’t have to do that.
In that case, I definitely wish you a speedy recovery and hope your test on Monday goes well.
It’s great that your husband is taking such good care of you.
Get well soon, Inge—from me, too. As long as you can manage some crafts, that’ll help take your mind off things a bit.
It was quiet here yesterday, too—the doorbell only rang once. Most people have a “long weekend” today.
The worst part was that my dad needed to see the doctor, but the office is closed today. Closed. A doctor who takes the day off. In the healthcare field, there’s no such thing as a long weekend :-(
Well, even in the healthcare field, people get days off—it’s not like the same person is on duty 24/7. And a doctor’s office always lists a substitute, after all.
