Warning Day (DE) on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

Dear users, dear authors,
This Thursday is once again the nationwide Warning Day in Germany. 
A test alert will be sent out from 11 a.m. The all-clear will be given at around 11:45 a.m.
As always, the whole thing follows this motto:
It’s better to embarrass ourselves on Warning Day and then work on it than to be embarrassed in a real emergency. 

What are your thoughts on Warning Day?

It’s probably a good thing that we practice enough—it never works right away when you actually need it.

Practice makes perfect, :-)) maybe that’ll actually ring true someday :-)) We’ll see if anything changes or not.

I’m curious to see if the siren on the neighboring house will go off.

I’m going to turn off my devices; otherwise, my cats will go crazy. Last time, it took them half a day to get back to “normal.” It scares them too much. 

Hi Mel, if the news I heard online this morning is correct, we won’t have to worry about this much longer, because this warning app is supposed to be discontinued again for cost reasons—it’s too expensive for the government; it would cost about 160 million, and the money isn’t there anymore.

We have a siren practically one block away—maybe 100 meters as the crow flies—and it’s so loud that you can hear it crystal clear even with the windows closed. I can report: it works perfectly 😂
That’s important, of course, but my cats had no idea where to go… One of them spent half the day afterward snuggled up on my arm. I couldn’t avoid the cell phone alerts, but luckily I was able to silence them right away. I couldn’t turn my phone off because I was expecting an important call.
