Vacation Plans for 2024

Dear users, dear authors,
Do you have vacation plans for 2024, or do you just want to do a lot of crafting?

I moved to Ireland six years ago and will be spending this summer (7 weeks) in my home country of Switzerland with my two boys (ages 5 years and 5 months). We can hardly wait.
And hopefully there will be plenty of time to knit or crochet in the sun. 🥰

That’s a long time away from home. I hope you have a wonderful time showing your sons everything and telling them all about it.

We’re going on a trip at the end of next week—a week-long family vacation. I’m really looking forward to it.

Of course, I’ll be packing wool, embroidery thread, fabric, and needles in my suitcase.

For the rest of the summer, we’ll be going on day trips—either hiking or biking. 

For me, vacation is something that has to be put on the back burner for now, because I’m having eye surgery in August—they found a full-grown gray bird in there, according to the ophthalmologist :-) While sewing, I’d already noticed over the last few months that something wasn’t quite right, so I finally went to see the eye doctor, and he figured out why my vision has been getting worse. That’s one reason why I hardly ever show any of my sewing projects—I can barely see the eye of the needle when I need to rethread or thread it. Knitting is nice too, and I still have plenty of work left on my blanket.

We don’t really have any vacation plans anymore either—since my husband needs care, we’re staying home. But we’ve had our fill of that for almost our entire lives, so it’s not so bad—everything in its own time.
This summer will be a bit more complicated, though; we both have a few surgeries coming up, so that will require some careful planning.
Otherwise, we’ll just enjoy—depending on the weather—the balcony or our cozy apartment; we never get bored.

Vacation? Due to health issues, there won’t be a vacation this year either. But as the saying goes,

If you have a nice home, you don’t need to go anywhere.

We enjoy our beautiful patio, look out at the pond, and listen to the birds.
Always make the best of it.

I’d like to go back to Carinthia. Hike and just enjoy the fresh air. And spend the rest of the time in the parks or on the balcony with friends🌞😎🍨

I’m on vacation next week. Maybe we’ll take a few days to go to Magdeburg or Potsdam—stay one or two nights, take a castle tour, or maybe catch a musical somewhere.

Then in July, we’re going on our river cruise down the Moselle to the Loreley. I’ll just let myself be surprised by what happens.
We’ve been looking forward to this for two years. It’s booked—*yay*

I also signed up for a class at the adult education center (painting class—drawing like “Monet”); it’s a two-hour session. I’m going to take that.
