Dear users, dear authors,
which crochet projects work well as gifts? What has your experience been with giving crochet patterns as gifts? Are there people who don’t like that?
Tell me about it.

First of all: You should only give handmade items to people who truly appreciate them!

And when it comes to the patterns, you have to think about what the recipient likes.
For my grandchildren, for example, I don’t need to give them crocheted or knitted clothes, but stuffed animals and sewn items are always welcome (though my sewing skills are more suited to doll clothes or carnival costumes—I don’t really dare to tackle everyday wear).
My children are happy to receive embroidered tablecloths or, every now and then, a scarf, a hat, or a shawl. They don’t like crocheted tops or decorations.
Personally, I don’t like socks, hats, and scarves because I don’t wear those kinds of things, etc.

So it always comes down to personal taste; you can’t generally say what makes a good gift or not. You should just know the person you want to give a handmade gift to well, so you won’t be disappointed later if the gift isn’t well-received.

I’d definitely be happy to receive crochet patterns as a gift, but even then, only for designs that I actually like. And someone who doesn’t crochet won’t be able to do much with a pattern, unless they plan to learn.

Yes, you should know the recipient a little bit to get it right, but that goes for all gifts, not just the homemade ones.
Amigurumi always go over well—for example, a kitten keychain for a cat lover or stuffed animals for kids. Lately, kids have been asking for more exotic animals—it’s no longer just about teddy bears. I’ve given away several chameleons, bats, a platypus, a tarantula, snakes, and an armadillo recently.
And seasonal decorations—the crocheted little angel chapel was such a hit that I now have another order for Easter decorations.

Hi everyone,

it’s true that, unfortunately, many people don’t appreciate the value of handmade crafts. They don’t understand how much love and work goes into a handmade item. These people would never appreciate a handmade gift.
But if someone does appreciate handmade crafts, they’ll certainly be happy to receive—in this case—a crocheted gift.
What’s particularly suitable really comes down to personal taste. One person might love a cute little animal keychain, while another might prefer a hat.

Best regards
