Last year I only managed to finish one hat, but this year it will be several scarves, which I’ll then send to WDR for the “Strick mit. Woll-Tat für den Westen” campaign.
The items will then be collected, sorted, and distributed.
I took part in the MDR campaign; the knitted items are being distributed throughout Central Germany. My contribution this year was two larger sweaters.
I saved the post about the Bavarian Peace Fleet. They’re looking for colorful pennants for the young people’s fleet of boats. I still have until early September. I’d like to sew a few of them.
@Ramona - you’ve put together a lovely list there.
I know the Düsseldorfer Wollengel from Facebook. It’s wonderful how much warm clothing the association collects and distributes. It’s great that so many people want to help and actually do so.
I’m currently working on my first pair 🧦 for the “Green Socks” campaign, with lots of green in them. Since socks won’t be accepted again until September, I’ll probably end up making quite a few more pairs.
A dear colleague of mine was recently diagnosed with breast cancer—a good 1 1/2 years after her sister, who is still fighting it. It’s just terrible… There’s also the “Heart Pillows—Together Against Cancer” campaign (for breast cancer patients). Since I unfortunately can’t sew, I’m knitting socks instead.
I’ve also already sewn for the heart-shaped pillow campaign, and I’m currently sewing fabric scraps into hats for the Onkomütze campaign; I’ll keep collecting them for a while until I have a full package.
My sister was also diagnosed with breast cancer and recently completed her treatment…
I’ve been crocheting for the organization “An Octopus for Every Premature Baby” for a few months now. Last week, I sent another package with 10 octopuses to the organization.
Recently, I also found MiniHerzchen e.V.
They sew, knit, and crochet suitable clothing for premature babies for clinics.
I’d love to get involved there too and knit or crochet clothing.
Best regards, Marina
I hadn’t heard of the “Onkomütze” campaign before. It’s a great initiative, too. I hope your sister’s treatment has worked well and that things are looking up again. My colleague’s sister unfortunately tolerated chemo extremely badly, including several circulatory collapses, so it’s understandable that my colleague is afraid the same could happen to her… I hope it won’t be that bad, and I’ll crochet her a little worry worm too.
