Embroidery for the Kindertafel

We have a donation booth for the Kindertafel at our Christmas market in Schweinfurt, and I’m embroidering some pictures for it that will be given away in exchange for a donation. The first 5 are now finished.

Dear Inge, you’re so hard-working… so many beautiful Christmas items. They’re sure to sell out quickly at the Christmas market. Everyone will find their favorite design there. I especially like the embroidery hoops—that way, you can hang up your new decorations right away.

Thanks, Karola. It really depends on the design and how long it takes me. I made the sleigh boy in one afternoon, with breaks in between, because there is a lot of very detailed work involved. The bells took me about two days.

Thanks for the reply, Inge. I can very well imagine how much work goes into one motif.
For me, it's the same. People often say, “you just do that with a computer program,”
but it's really not that simple. It takes a lot of time, experience, and fine-tuning, and sometimes you have to struggle with every little detail.

Thanks, Karola, :-) Yeah, it seems there’s always more to it than meets the eye. For example, I’ve been working on a lion’s head for a good four years now—I’ve already unpicked it and started over from scratch a few times because I just wasn’t happy with what I’d done.

Yeah, I know that feeling all too well. I have a few long-term projects like that myself ;)—
they just don’t seem to come together.
But in a situation like that, it makes no sense to me to try to rush things.
As long as I’m not happy with the motif, it just sits there....And sometimes it works out even better later
on.
