Dear users, dear authors,
dear little elves,
what are you working on today? Are you busy with your crafts and in real life too?

Hard at work in real life today

We’re having walnut bread tomorrow. So I’m busily cracking walnuts.

And I also made a cord with the knitting dolly for a new gift bag. Just need to weave in the ends now

I’ve crocheted another summery row on the temperature blanket, and I’m still working on some Easter decorations—the second chicken just needs one more wing.
Other than that, I’ve started clearing off the balcony—the tomatoes have been harvested, and a black-eyed Susan was past its prime, so those are already in the compost bin. And since it’s 25 degrees and fully sunny, I’ve gotten nice and warm in the process. :-)

And it’s gotten even warmer today—I’m back to orange again:

Veronika, the blanket is turning out great

My bread tasted really good yesterday. That wasn’t my last walnut bread.

Mmmmmmmm, that already looks delicious! Would you mind sharing the recipe?

Veronika, I don’t really use recipes for my bread anymore. I just mix things together. The gram amounts usually stay the same; only the types of flour change. 😊

I’ve been baking with my Giovanni (lievito madre — wheat sourdough) for over a year now; that’s my base.
Then I received a flour blend as a birthday gift, which I used here, and then added walnuts at the end.

150 grams of lievito madre
500 grams of the flour blend
100 grams of type 405 flour, so it doesn’t turn out quite so dark
420 grams of water
14 grams of salt
and a big handful of walnuts.

I think you can mix walnuts into any bread made with darker flour.

I’m going to keep knitting on my jacket for now, because I want to actually finish it and not let it become a lifelong project :-)

Best wishes, Inge

Thanks for the recipe—I think I’ll start baking my own bread again. There are only chain bakeries around here now, and everything tastes kind of the same.

So you’ve almost got a UFO too, Inge? :-)

Oh yes, Veronika, when I started knitting for the Kindertafel, I put my jacket aside for a bit, and now I’m back to knitting.
But today I dusted off my sewing machine and sewed a little chocolate pouch for my sister—check it out here:

Veronika, this weather blanket is going to be a testament to climate change. I’m curious to see what it will look like at the end of the year… Will there be blue, dark blue, or purple??? We’ll see.

Yes, it definitely will be. I stuck to the color guidelines in the description. Well, I didn’t need the “hottest” color, and I only used the second-hottest one twice. But as for the cold colors, I didn’t need any below zero—the coldest it got last winter was 1 degree, above zero, of course. That’s surprising even for Cologne.
