Cable Patterns: Let’s Get Crafting Now

You can knit cables to match the upcoming fall with these hat patterns:

Alternating knit and purl stitches, with small cables in between. That keeps the knitting from getting boring. The hat can be made with or without a pom-pom, whichever you like.

Another hat variation is the following. Here, long cables are knitted, again with alternating knit and purl stitches in between. This hat is knitted from thinner yarn and is also especially suitable for the transition into winter.

Here’s a pattern for knitted baby booties

The cable pattern runs across the top of the foot, and the decreases create a nice transition from the pattern to the knit stitches. 

The booties are knitted with a set of double-pointed needles, and in addition to the written instructions, you’ll find plenty of pictures and a chart for the cable pattern. 

Knitting cables is fun. It never gets boring while knitting, and you get a beautiful look. It brings any garment to life. You can knit just one cable or lots of them. It could then look like my short poncho.

The cut is very easy to make. It drapes beautifully and gives your forearms freedom of movement. You won’t get caught on anything with it, which makes it an ideal garment for the transitional season and for working at a desk or PC. It keeps your upper body warm while your fingers are free to work. The soft merino wool is breathable and wonderfully soft.
