Making Your Own Pom-Poms

do you have any tips for easily making pom-poms?

The prettiest and easiest pom-poms are made using a pom-pom maker. They come in various sizes. The pattern explains exactly how to do it.
If you don’t have a pom-pom maker, you can cut out two circular cardboard discs with a hole in the center, which you then wrap with yarn. The tighter you wrap the yarn, the prettier the pom-pom will be. Then cut through the yarn at the edge of the cardboard discs and tie it together with a piece of thread. Finally, trim the pom-pom so it’s nice and even.
For very small pom-poms, I also wrap the yarn around a fork once, tie the threads together in the middle, and cut them open at the edge.

I bought a pom-pom maker this spring and am very happy with it.

My first attempts with it turned out very uniform. Before that, I used to cut out cardboard templates, but they turned out really nice and even for me when winding the yarn.

If you want to make lots of pom-poms in the same color, here’s how:

Turn a kitchen chair upside down and place it on the table with the seat facing up. Now wrap the yarn around two of the chair legs. Then tie the yarn off at even intervals using strong thread. Next, cut between the ties and fluff out the pom-poms. Finally, use scissors to trim around the edges briefly to shape them.
