Question: Invisible round join with half double crochet followed by turning...

Hi everyone,
I have another pretty beginner-level question and hope someone can help me. I haven’t really been able to find a satisfactory explanation on streaming services… or at least not one that helps me get the correct number of stitches in the following rounds…
Specifically, I’m talking about the invisible round join with half double crochet and turning the crochet work afterward. In my pattern, this join is described as follows: “Join the first stitch of the round with a slip stitch, pull tight. Chain 1, pull tight. Chain 1. Turn the work.”

—I don’t quite understand which stitch I’m supposed to insert the hook into to make the join invisible. With the “normal” round join, I would place my slip stitch in the 2nd starting chain and then begin the new round by inserting the hook into the 1st half double crochet of the round (which is clear when turning the work—the last half double crochet of the previous round)...?! - What does this mean here? Am I supposed to pull the first chain stitch tight, so that the remaining chain stitch counts as one stitch? Where do I place the slip stitch to finish, or the first new half double crochet of the next round, to do it correctly? Can anyone help me with this?

(*I’d watched videos on the invisible round join (the method with 1 sc and 1 ch at the start of the round—finish: slip stitch into a sc to “trick” the eye into seeing a half double crochet). But I can’t seem to get it right with the turning here.)

This might be a really silly question—but I’d really like to be able to continue my project—since it’s very frustrating right now...

Thank you, and many thanks for the tip! I didn’t purchase the pattern from Crazypatterns, but somewhere else, which is why I preferred not to upload it ;-) I only copied it above exactly as it appears in the pattern. I thought I’d see whether someone here might be able to help off the cuff...
