Dear users, dear authors,
Have a great weekend everyone.

It’s been raining here for days, but we’re not complaining. For one thing, it’s good for the garden; for another, considering the terrible heat down south, we really can’t complain.
I cooked a big pot of lecsó today. We’ll have it tomorrow with cevapcici and on Sunday with schnitzel.
That leaves time for new projects. I’ve started so many things and really need to finish some of them.

Thanks, and I hope everyone has a lovely weekend too. Well, as a retiree, you have the weekend all week long ;-) :-)
It’s rained a lot here too, and it was more than welcome in Lower Franconia, because it’s one of the driest areas, and always has been. And it’s still not enough to refill the wells and groundwater levels

Best regards, Inge

Weekend vibes or not. On the one hand, yes, but on the other hand, I have to recover from a bad cold and hope that my trouble swallowing gets better.
I’m sure each of you knows the feeling of having swallowed a piece of candy that’s stuck in your throat—that’s how I feel. So I went to the doctor today, and now I have a week “off.”

Have a great weekend, everyone!

I, too, wish everyone a wonderful weekend. And get well soon, Andrea!
Yes, it’s been raining here on and off since Monday—sometimes more heavily, sometimes less—but almost nonstop. And it’s supposed to stay that way for a while. Nature could use it, though the Rhineland isn’t exactly known for being a dry region—the Cologne area is a real rain trap.
Today I went through and sorted all my cotton yarn, ordered a few little things (it’s a bummer that we don’t have any craft stores here anymore), and tidied up my desk.
Tomorrow I’m going to bake a cake; other than that, I have the day off, so I’ll be crocheting, reading, and doing other things like that.

Andrea, get well soon.

It’s been raining on and off here all week, too—everything is completely unpredictable. You can’t even rely on the weather forecast. It was actually supposed to be warm and dry yesterday, so we planned a pizza night, and I had already started making a large batch of dough on Thursday. Then suddenly the forecast looked completely different and nonstop rain was predicted. So we moved everything indoors and had fresh bread instead. A woman’s got to be flexible, after all.

Let’s see what else happens this weekend. There’s plenty of yarn in the house, even with nonstop rain.

Have a lovely weekend

Veronika, how’s your weather blanket looking right now? I’m sure it’s very interesting after the temperature drop.

Yes, it’s really going to be extraordinary. Even for Cologne, the winter was sensationally mild, and now July is surprisingly cool.
This blanket kind of grounds you. At first, it went on way too long with similar temperatures, but when it changes frequently, I have to keep weaving in ends. 🤣
So if you’re not yet very good at being content with what you have, you should crochet a temperature blanket—it helps! 🤣

But now I’m really curious about the pizza night—are you making pizza outside?

Yes, we bought a pizza oven last winter and we’re absolutely thrilled with it. But the weather really needs to be dry so the pizza maker doesn’t get wet.

I’m looking forward to seeing your blanket.

A pizza oven—wow! That sounds really interesting, Petra.

Andrea, there are two sides to everything. I hope you feel better soon so you can use this free week to do everything that brings you joy—like crocheting.

It’s raining on and off here, but not enough to keep us from going for a walk now and then. Otherwise, I’m just catching up on some things that got put on hold when the weather was nice.

I wish you all a wonderful and relaxing weekend!

Thank you all for the get-well wishes.

That’s right, Monika. I still need to finish my mom’s birthday card in the next few days, make some place cards (4 of them), and bake a cake for her little coffee gathering. All by Friday.
The cough is still bothering me despite the drops, and my whole stomach hurts from all the coughing.

Ursulapetra, your lecsó looks delicious.
Petra, wow—a pizza oven! The things people come up with. Is it only for outdoor use?

Yes, the pizza oven is for outdoor use only. It’s heated with either gas, charcoal, or pellets. We use pellets, and every now and then it smokes like a steam train 😱. So really, it’s for outdoor use only.

But the pizza and pizza rolls really do taste just like they do at an Italian restaurant. And so far, it’s always been a fun get-together whenever we’ve fired it up.

Get well soon, Andrea!

It’s raining here again, too, and right now it looks like it’s going to be steady rain—unlike yesterday, when it poured buckets just before five. The weather forecast for our National Day on Tuesday doesn’t look very promising, so the celebration will probably have to be moved to the market hall. Since we (the Women’s Association) are in charge of the food and drink stand, we’re not too thrilled about the prospect, as experience has shown that fewer guests are likely to show up (which, of course, means less revenue for us!)
As for tomorrow, I don’t have any specific plans besides the church service and coffee afterward. There’s certainly plenty to do, though: so much has been left undone over the past few months.

***I’m excited to see your blanket.***

This is what it looked like yesterday; I still have to crochet today’s row, but it’ll be yellow again, too.

It looks great. First the cooler colors, then the gradual transition to yellow, and finally that intense red.

Wow, amazing.

Thanks, Christina. This cough is still bothering me.

Veronika, your blanket looks interesting in terms of color. I’m curious to see what it’ll look like when it’s finished.

Me too! :-)
When I ordered the yarn for the blanket, I didn’t know how things would turn out, so I also bought some shades of blue for the really cold days—but this year, the coldest it’s been at noon so far is +1 degree. So there might still be some areas with more blue toward the end.
And is that it for the summer temperatures? No idea how much red and dark red is still to come. And just to be safe, I also bought some deep purple for when it gets over 35 degrees....
