It’s happening… I think I’m right in the middle of the pack here. :-) But the pile just keeps growing when there are always such lovely new patterns tempting me.
I’ve been able to test-crochet a few things lately—it’s fun, and I’ve used up some of my leftover yarn. And now I’ve gone through my many downloads; there are a few projects in there that are perfect for using up leftovers, so I’ve already started on one of them today. But unfortunately, I immediately discover other things I’ve been meaning to make for ages—but for those, I’d have to buy new yarn. It’s a never-ending cycle! 🤣
I like to crochet little animals and things like that, but the downside is that they just keep piling up—I crochet relatively quickly and have plenty of time. Every now and then I’ll get rid of a whole bunch, which makes room for new ones.
I’ve also made quite a few shopping bags out of colorful leftover yarn and have already given them to family and friends.
I always have lots of small leftover yarn pieces because I mainly design small items, and there’s always something left over. But I use up all the scraps little by little—either for crafts with my grandchildren or for new patterns. Since my shop’s motto is “Crocheting with Leftover Yarn,” that works out pretty well.
I’ve already knitted quite a bit from my stash this year, but I’ve also unraveled quite a few larger UFOs
and turned them into new projects. My boxes are getting noticeably emptier, but my stash will last for quite a while yet. I’ve only ordered some new supplies (hand-dyed yarn)
for my vacation, for a raglan sweater.
My leftover yarn is also noticeably dwindling. Since I’m currently revising the doll clothing patterns, I have to reknit or crochet a few pieces. I’m using the leftover yarn for that now. But the prettiest colors are already gone. Reordering isn’t an option right now for financial reasons. I have to use what I have.
For a new project—yes, I just needed something new to spark my creativity—I did order some new yarn. But I’m sure there will be leftover yarn from that, too. And so, anyone who does handicrafts practically always has leftover yarn.
I’m also working my way through my stash. A large part of it consists of scraps, and they’re starting to run out. Every now and then, I’ve crocheted little things that I could easily use up the scraps for.
That’s how I’ve made a lot of accessories for the dollhouse kitchen lately; last week I crocheted another balloon cover—in pink. Now there’s a request for a “boy’s balloon.” So a few more scraps are gone.
