Dear users, dear authors,
What material do you like or not like at all?

- Yarn that splits while crocheting
- Slippery fabrics
- Scratchy yarn
- Squeaky yarn
- Yarn that sheds fibers
- Yarn that’s too thick
I avoid ALL of these…if possible

When it comes to wool, I’m in trouble if it contains linen. I don’t like that at all.

I don’t really like working with very thick wool either, but what’s even more important is that it feels good. It shouldn’t be itchy, but it also shouldn’t be all sticky and static—I find that particularly annoying.

What I don’t like is too much plastic in the wool—for me, wool has to be breathable, and you shouldn’t feel like you’re carrying a sauna around with you.
I also don’t really like fabrics that are too slippery; they tend to slide off the machine :-)

Best regards, Inge

I make a lot of amigurumi. I prefer to use mercerized cotton.
I just can’t get used to gradient yarn cakes. Knitting with them is still okay, but I don’t like crocheting with them.

I don't like sponge yarn at all, and I don't like mohair either.

I usually crochet; I rarely knit.

I can’t stand having animal fibers against my skin, so all sheep, rabbits, and llamas are out of the question. Silk is fine and great, but in most stores it’s always combined with other animal fibers. I’d love to have a silk-linen blend, but I don’t think it exists.
I really enjoy working with a cotton-synthetic fiber blend. It feels good, washes well, and offers the widest selection of colors for color gradients in most stores. Or with recycled cotton (and synthetic fiber) yarn.

Pure plastic is a no-go, and neither are long, fluffy fibers against the skin. Too many tactile stimuli drive me crazy.

I like yarn made of multiple strands, because that allows for lots of exciting effects—ranging from very thin to very thick.
