Easter tree / Easter bush

Do you also get annoyed by the plastic eggs on the Easter tree? Last year, I repainted them because the paint on many of them had already faded completely

I left the broken ones and those with loose hangers in the bucket. Now, after the first storm of the year, a few were lying on the ground again, torn off. I also feel like they’ll break just by looking at them.

So now I’m crocheting covers for them—we have plenty of leftover yarn around the house—and I hope that will make them less fragile and more durable.

Have you decorated an Easter tree or bush at your place, too?

I haven’t put up an Easter tree outside in a long time because the wind kept blowing the eggs off. Inside, I have one decorated with crocheted figures and blown eggs that my grandchildren painted.

Great idea to paint or crochet them, Petra.

Twenty years ago, I looked after an elderly neighbor. The dear woman was chronically bored and needed to be kept busy. So it happened that two lilac trees were decorated with eggs and little animals for Easter, and she sat on her walker trying to count them. From all directions, of course. Naturally, she always came up with a different total, and every time she went shopping, a new package of eggs would be added.
Over time, this added up to 289 eggs and 145 chicks, bunnies, and lambs.

Hanging them up was already a chore, but taking them down once the lilacs had bloomed in full force was even worse...

I haven’t done this in a long time now, because the neighborhood here has changed a lot. In one year, about 100 of them were punctured or stolen. That just takes the fun out of it.

I still think this kind of Easter decoration is very beautiful, and I enjoy it.

Here in the area, it would be possible—you can leave everything outside here, and nothing disappears. But we don’t have a tree in our front yard at all. That said, I don’t see many in the neighborhood either; maybe it’s just too much trouble for most people.

What a brilliant idea, Petra! We also have a shrub like that, which we decorate with eggs, and they’ve gotten so faded by now that they’re barely visible. For next year, I’m going to crochet them with colorful leftover yarn, too. Awesome!! Thanks!

We live on a dead-end street, so thank goodness no one takes anything.

The neighborhood kids enjoy my Easter decorations, and of course, so does our grandson. He sometimes adds an egg of his own, too.

Ruth, your bouquet is pretty. I especially like the chickens.

For indoors, my former mother-in-law also gave me some beautiful eggs wrapped in wax. I still have to get them out of the box; then I’ll show them to you.
