Dear users, dear authors,
what do you enjoy most about doing crafts?

Oh yes, I definitely do—I love crafts. Even though I started knitting relatively late (only about 13 years ago), I really enjoy it. I’ve always loved sewing, even when I was still a beginner, and I also enjoyed hand embroidery for a long time. I used to crochet, too, but unfortunately I can’t do that anymore because of the arthritis in my hands.

Best regards, Inge

I can’t really say what’s the most fun. Of course, I’m always happy with the finished product, but I enjoy the process just as much. I’m noticing that especially right now with the temperature blanket—it’s perfect for me, like an Advent calendar for the whole year. 🤣 Every lunchtime I crochet one more row; I’m always excited beforehand to see what color it will be, and I love watching the stripes get wider and wider.
Well, since I don’t want to wait a whole year for the result, I keep working on other things on the side, so that every few days I finish something else.

For me, the most fun part is designing, and then, of course, knitting. The journey is the destination. :) It’s just such a nice feeling to have yarn in my fingers.

Monika, I agree with you—wool is wonderful, and I really love the feel of it.

But crafts aren’t just about wool—there’s embroidery, sewing, knotting, and so much more.

For me, the best part of crafting is that I can lose myself in it, and while I’m working on something, my thoughts are focused on my project. I’m happy when it’s finished, and I usually feel a sense of satisfaction. Sometimes I even feel a sense of pride—I’ve made something so wonderful.

But the question was, what’s the most fun? For me, it’s the beginning of the project. That’s the best moment. The first stitch, the first brushstroke, finding the design for the embroidery and tracing it onto the fabric, selecting the right colors for my embroidery, and cutting the fabric to size.

What I enjoy most is seeing my ideas take shape with yarn.

I already have a lot of fun picking out the pattern and the materials. Designing something myself, unfortunately, isn’t really my thing.
What I enjoy most is the actual knitting, crocheting, or embroidery.
Seeing how the project slowly grows and takes shape more and more. It gives me relaxing hours and lets me forget about “the world out there.”
And when it’s finally finished, it’s something you can’t just buy off the shelf. Even if it’s made from someone else’s pattern, it’s still mine. For myself or as a gift for a loved one.
And then it all starts over again: What should I make, which pattern, which materials, and so on? 🙂

I love seeing things come to life from a simple, long strand of yarn. It never ceases to fascinate me. At first, there’s just a ball of yarn that could become anything, and then I get started and amazing things take shape—even from tiny scraps! Just like Luise’s little lamb. A small ball of chenille yarn turns into something so cute! Now she’s dangling from the kitchen window, and I’m enjoying looking at her!
Or the last baby hat I knitted. The yarn is so wonderfully smooth and soft, and the stitch pattern looked so beautifully even—it brought me so much joy that I was almost sad when it was finished. My husband almost declared me crazy because I was raving about it so much 😂
