Dear users, dear authors,
have you bought any wool, fabric, or other materials, or have you stayed strong?

Last year, I bought the yarn for the temperature blanket, which I’m now crocheting. The only thing is, I might have to reorder a color or two if we have weeks of monotonous weather.
And there was plenty in the Advent calendar for little animals and other small items, so I can hold out for quite a while now. Maybe even the whole year? We’ll see....

I do have the magazine from Bu..ine..e lying around, and I flip through it every now and then, BUT I don’t really need anything for the time being, because I already have a closet full of nothing to wear anyway :-) :-) I think I’ll only buy again once I’ve lost a few more kilos and altering things no longer makes sense because otherwise there would be too much to take in and the fit would be ruined

Best, Inge

I treated myself to a tiny mini iron with a soleplate about the size of my palm. I used it for the first time yesterday. It’s a wonderful little tool. It works great, especially for kids’ clothes. It’s easy to handle, and you can get into all the tiny nooks and crannies.

And I ordered a new pair of small tailor’s scissors. They’re still on their way. I only have one pair of big, heavy fabric scissors. For those little snips and small cuts, I needed a smaller pair. Let’s see if they’re sharp right down to the tip.

Love, Ina

I just couldn’t resist and bought two skeins of hand-dyed yarn 🙈. For two weeks, I kept going back and forth—“No, you don’t really have a project in mind for this,” and then again, “But it’s soooo pretty”.... Now it’s mine 😍

Let’s see what I can whip up with it....

Oh yes, Steffi, I can totally understand that. The wool looks absolutely enchanting... such beautiful, delicate colors, and I’m sure it’s very soft. It’s already a little work of art.

Hugs, Ina

I couldn’t have passed up that yarn either—it’s such a great color combination.

I ordered a whole bunch of cotton yarn the day before yesterday. For my figures. The deal was just too tempting.
Scha-mayr for less than half the price.

Oh yes, I went on another shopping spree at my favorite yarn shop near Stuttgart.
Since I still have a wholesale license and can buy the 🧶 at wholesale prices, it’s naturally very tempting for me.
That said, I can always use more yarn.
I’m definitely going to order another box this year.
New yarn makes me happy, too 🙂

Since the general weather conditions in Cologne seem to be very stable, I’m already worrying whether I’ll have enough yarn for the thermal blanket—so far, I’ve only ever needed the same color, and that doesn’t seem likely to change anytime soon. Then I’d have to buy more yarn, and shipping isn’t really worth it for just one skein.... 😉

Josefa, I’ve stayed strong. The year is already 4 days old, and I haven’t bought or ordered anything yet. Hihihiiii

...but then I did again... The yarn for the big blanket is back in stock 😍
and it’s time to wake up from my Christmas slumber 😇
Next week, I’ll be able to pick up my needles again 👍

I’ve stayed strong, too :). My fabric stash is full—I’m still working through my fabric supply!

Best regards, Sonja

Today I just couldn’t resist and picked up 2 x 500 grams of beige wool from K.K for a blanket—I’m knitting the blanket diagonally.

Best regards, Inge

Hi everyone,
this is my first time posting here...
I’m a guy, I love to knit, and I’m always browsing through the various patterns... Here’s to a hopefully healthy New Year, Carlo

I went shopping... I was still missing blue and green for the color challenge.

And I was looking for one more color to add to a baby gift (which I ended up not using 😱)

And since I’ve already knitted quite a bit this year and helped a knitter with a yarn sale, my stash is still smaller than it was in 2022.

I’d like to knit some wrist warmers and matching headbands from this. I really like the mustard yellow right now.

Do you currently prefer to shop in-store or online?

I usually shop online because there aren’t any wool stores left around here. I really should Google where the nearest one is.

...Actually, I’d rather buy in a store—to see the yarn in person, check out the colors, and feel how “soft” it is. But unfortunately, I have a problem very similar to Veronika’s. There are actually two yarn shops near us—one is very expensive; they sell almost exclusively unplied multi-strand yarn from their own production (manufactured in Kappeln)—and the other is very small. You can shop there for smaller projects, but if you’re planning to make a sweater or something similar, they’ll say, “We’ll have to order it.”... So I drive there, pick something out, and come home without any yarn—they can’t guarantee that the reordered yarn will be from the same dye lot.... 🤷 In that case, I might as well just order it myself.
Otherwise, I have “my go-to” dyers, whose little online shops I love to browse and order from....

I don’t buy anything online (I mean, really nothing—unless I’ve visited or called five stores and can’t find it anywhere).

Many, many years ago, I once bought 500 grams of yarn at an eBay auction. I was so disappointed when I unpacked it, and it’s still lying around somewhere in the house.

I live not far from the Schachenmayr and Schöller + Stahl factory outlets. I can stroll through them, touch the items, and spend a lot of time there. We also have at least five craft stores within a radius of about 15 km. I seem to be blessed.

Tomorrow I’m going to the neighboring town. The needle on my overlock machine broke. A little walk, and by evening my pillow will be finished.

.....Factory outlet 😍😍😍 My husband would have to tie me up if I had one nearby 🙈😁🙈
Of course, I’d much rather browse in a store, if only to discover something “new”....
and right now I’m only buying hand-dyed yarn.... I know what the “basic” yarn feels like and how it knits up....
