Spinning Wheel / Spinning

Dear users, dear authors,
who among you enjoys spinning or would like to try it?

Oh, I’d love to. A few years ago, I took a class and spent an afternoon trying out different spinning wheels. It was a lot of fun, and in the end, I ended up with two small skeins (68 grams total) of really beautiful yarn. Here’s the result of three hours of spinning. The alternating thick and thin strands were intentional on my part. 



I didn’t buy a spinning wheel back then, because I simply wouldn’t have had the time for spinning. There just weren’t enough hours in the day for that kind of fun, and I had to spend too much time working.

  Maybe someday when I’m no longer working—I still have the address. But I think spinning is a very time-consuming hobby, and I already have so many things I enjoy doing, and I wouldn’t want to give up any of them.

I even knitted with the yarn I spun, combining it with some colorful sock yarn. 

I’m kind of “tempted” to try it, too… I actually have an old spinning wheel sitting here—no idea if it’s “just” for decoration or if it actually works. But honestly, I have no idea where I’d even find the time. I’m already doing so many other things…
Maybe an opportunity will “come up” someday to at least give it a try… 

I absolutely love spinning; I even teach classes now.
Spinning is a very interesting craft, and the basics can be learned quickly.
I love buying wool right after the sheep are sheared, washing it, dyeing it, and then spinning it. 

I then use the wool I’ve spun myself for weaving, knitting, or crocheting.
