Changing Colors in Crochet and Knitting

Dear users, dear authors,
Would you like to share your thoughts on changing colors in crochet and knitting? How can this be done as easily as possible?

I’m currently crocheting letters on pennants. Here’s how I handle the color change: on the last single crochet before the new color, I finish the stitch with the new color. 



When knitting, you have to make sure the yarns are crossed when changing colors, otherwise you’ll end up with holes. But I have to admit, it’s been a very long time since I’ve knitted a picture using multiple colors. 

Here’s another tip on changing colors or yarn. Since I don’t like weaving in ends (like probably everyone here), I always try to work the end of the old color right into the new row. That way, the starting end of the yarn can be easily hidden in the current row.
