Hello, dear authors and designers,
Just a general question: Do any of you offer your patterns in more than one language?
If so, how do you handle the product descriptions? After all, you usually only write them in one language. But how do people find them in the other language?
Or do you create two separate listings—one for each language?
And what has been your experience overall? I mean, is it worth the effort? For example, are there more purchases in English, or at least as many as in German?
Hi, yes, exactly.
In my listings, I can see all the patterns. But when I switch to the English page, I only see the English patterns in my shop. It’s the same with German ones.
A pattern that’s available in multiple languages should be uploaded multiple times (once per language). The product name, description, tags, etc. (all attributes) must be specified in the respective language.
when you list a product, you have to select the appropriate language (tick the box). That way, the item will be assigned correctly later on.
You can select the language quite far down on the product settings page, after you’ve specified the categories and file types (above the tags).
yeah, I’d already seen that button—and that’s when I started wondering exactly how best to go about it if you want to offer the patterns in multiple languages. After all, the title and description are always in just one language and would therefore only be found in that language.
