Embroidery Machine

Hi everyone,

since there are probably a lot of pros here, I have a question: Can someone please tell me which embroidery machines are good? What brands are out there, and how do they compare? Maybe something like the categories “affordable compact car – Golf – Mercedes – Ferrari”... :-) That might help give a better idea.

Thank you so much in advance,
Fränze

Well, I have a Brother Inno-vis V3—it’s actually my second embroidery machine. Before that, I had the Brother Inno-vis 750E. This machine is really great if you’re just starting out with machine embroidery. It really walks you through every step in advance. But what I’d recommend is that you go to a dealer you trust and have them show you a few different machines and demonstrate how they work.  That way, you can be sure you’re getting the right machine for you. One more thing: don’t let the dealer talk you into buying just any machine—unfortunately, that happens sometimes—stay firm until you find the machine that *speaks* to you. Then you’ll really enjoy machine embroidery as a hobby. I’d also recommend getting an embroidery software program that suits your needs, because it won’t be as easy without one—eventually, you’ll want to create your own embroidery designs. I personally use Embird, but there are other programs as well; it also depends on your budget, since this isn’t exactly a cheap hobby. In addition to the machine, you’ll need the right embroidery thread and embroidery stabilizer—there are different types depending on what you want to embroider. I can only speak from my own experience with the software I use; there are other girls here who embroider too, so take your time and don’t rush into anything.

Love, Inge

Inge has already covered everything… ask a dealer for advice… or compare machines online… and ultimately, it comes down to your budget and how much you want to embroider…It’s an expensive (but lovely) hobby 😍

I used to have the Husqvarna Diamond, a combination machine—I could either embroider or sew... now I have a dedicated embroidery machine (Brother VR), and the Husqvarna Diamond is (only) used for sewing.

I can only add that I have a Brother Innovis 1250.
However, if I were buying one today, I wouldn’t get a combo machine (sewing and embroidery) anymore—I’d go for a dedicated embroidery machine.
I made that decision back then because I only had my “little” Pfaff as my sole sewing machine and wanted a backup for sewing “just in case.”
