This UFO just won’t get finished....

I tackled a UFO earlier this week. There weren’t many rows left on the triangular shawl, and I wanted to finish knitting it quickly.

But oh my gosh, I don’t have enough yarn. There are still a few rows left to knit.

The shawl is knitted from point to point. Unraveling it and knitting a smaller shawl isn’t an option at all. It’s too big for that, and I’ve already spent so many hours on it.

My idea would be to tie knots at both ends. Would that be a possibility? Can you think of any other solutions? I also don’t want to start using a different color. Could I just pull the stitches together with the leftover yarn, like you would with a beanie?

With knots, it should be wearable, right?

The knot is a good idea, and that way it’s definitely wearable. That’s the nice thing about handicrafts: you can be creative, and nowhere is it written that it has to be done exactly that way. So just leave it like that and enjoy it.

Best regards, Inge

I think it would definitely look great with knots, too.

The color is beautiful.
What’s this pattern called?

I think the idea with the knots is great. I’d also make knots and maybe add some little tassels or pom-poms. Then it would be perfect for me....
It turned out really beautiful 😍

I think the shawl is really pretty, too, and I’d solve it the same way with the knots. It’s a good idea. Yeah, it’s really frustrating when you run out of yarn at the end.

Thank you all. I’ve now pulled the yarn through the stitches and hidden it in a knot. Maybe I’ll find a tiny scrap left in one of my boxes....... Hope springs eternal.

There isn’t enough yarn for tassels either, though I could definitely see that working.

Josefa, unfortunately, I don’t know what the pattern is called or where I found it. The shawl has been a UFO for a long time. In the meantime, I’ve even knitted a hat using this pattern. I think it looks really beautiful with the loops.

Hi Petra,
I had the same problem with the Lasbelin shawl (though I crocheted it), so I ended up unraveling half of it and re-crocheting it 🙄.

It looks really great 👍—the pattern actually stands out even better on the hat 🤔

Susanne, the shawl had been sitting in the UFO box for so long. Unraveling it all the way back to the halfway point—no, that wasn’t an option this time. I think I can live with the knots just fine. I usually wear my triangular shawls wrapped like a scarf. They definitely won’t get in the way there.
