I’m sure no one has ever asked this question before you, dear Josefa. Certainly, creative work flows better at certain times. Sometimes everything goes smoothly, and other times it’s a struggle and nothing really turns out right. Maybe the phases of the moon do actually influence our creativity when it comes to crafts. Someone should research that. Then there would be a lunar calendar for crafts, and we’d all know when it’s better to tackle tricky projects—or put them on hold.
The moon has a major influence on every aspect of our lives.
I take the moon phases into account for many things, and it’s worked out very well for me so far. I don’t tackle difficult projects during unfavorable moon phases.
That’s why I do believe that the lunar calendar also influences our crafts and how we approach them.
When it comes to crafts, I just go with the flow. For some other things, I sometimes check the astrological conditions. For example: Mercury in retrograde = don’t sign any important contracts. That’s an interesting topic.
I don’t know anything about any of these things, and I don’t believe in most of it.
Years and years ago, I once went to a fortune-teller who claimed to have a monopoly on astrology. After taking a critical look at all my houses and ascendants, she predicted that I would have a serious accident but would survive it. And that my love life would soon be sensational....
Well, shortly after that, I broke my little toe.... and survived.... and the love life never materialized, since I was in the middle of going through a rather messy divorce.
But the moon really is hanging there, the tides know it and so do I—I don’t sleep during the two nights before the full moon. As a child, I used to wander around, so everything in our house was always locked up, but now I’m just wide awake. No big deal—I’ll just read or something. But whether I can do crafts better or worse then? I’ll have to pay attention to that.
As a scientist, I’m skeptical about the idea that the moon has an influence on our personal lives. The moon affects the tides, but does it really affect us humans personally? I don’t think much of astrology either. But if it’s fun for you, by all means believe in it and go by it.
I sleep worse during a full moon—that’s just how it is.
So far, I haven’t associated my days when I’m aimless and without a plan with my crafts with the moon. But in the future, when I have days like that, I’ll pay attention to what the moon is like.
Otherwise, I don’t base my life on the moon. Not even in the garden. My vegetables don’t amount to anything, but my flowers thrive. I’m just “not a vegetable gardener,” which doesn’t really matter in a two-person household.
I don’t believe in horoscopes, but I do believe in the characteristics of the zodiac signs. I’m definitely a Cancer. A great many of the traits attributed to the zodiac sign Cancer apply to me.
When I was young—a long time ago—I used to pay attention to it.
These days, though, I don’t have time for that in my everyday life, so I don’t think anything has changed for me.
I don’t have a green thumb for gardening anyway—either things grow or they don’t.
I crochet whenever I feel like it and have the time.
I notice the full moon every now and then when I see how bright it is in the garden at night, or when my husband points it out to me, but that’s about it.
Still, it’s an interesting topic to see how other people deal with it.
That would be a nice way to blame the moon when something doesn’t work out 😋😜.
But it could also be that you feel the full moon: 14 days before the full moon and 14 days after 😋😜
In the garden, I do sometimes check the moon phase, but mostly I just do the work whenever I have time and the weather is right. When it comes to needlework, I’ve never heard of people checking the moon phase… though it could be that as the moon wanes, the stitches drop faster 😂
For me, the moon is still relevant when I need or want to get rid of excess water again, because doing that during a waxing moon is really counterproductive; it works much better and more effectively during a waning moon. It also has to do with the fact that humans are made up of almost 70% water. When it comes to crafts and such, it has never occurred to me to follow the moon’s phase.
